He was that in College and Junior College before that. A huge ball hawk. Honestly I don't think we drop off much. In the future probably him and Hufanga will be the two young guys back there playing together.

To be honest, Hufanga and Ji'Ayir might both be good players, but they might be too similar in style. They have similar strengths and weaknesses. I am not sure it is good to put two safeties on the field who are both not good tacklers.

I actually think Hufanga is a real good tackler when he puts his mind into it an wraps up. He played a lot like a linebacker at USC and was always around the line of scrimmage. He was banging guys around all over the place. Jiayir Brown is just young and some rookie nerves out there on some missed tackles. He's excellent in coverage being a ball hawk. I think he will clean up the tackling. You can't teach the instincts of either guy.

I think they are far worse than Jimmie Ward and Gipson in terms of securing a tackle. Also, it is more than tackling. Gipson and Ward can man up and cover the slot WR, I am not sure neither Hufanga nor Jiayir would be able to do that at a high level.

Hufanga messes that up sometimes because he tries to bang guys with a knockout blow with his shoulder. Rather than wrap up with his arms. Jiayir is just young and missed a few tackles. But he seems great and instinctive in the passing game.

PFF says this dude was the best graded on defense for the Niners. Think he's been top 5 in all 3 games so far.

I don't know how they come up with those stats, but as long as he is not getting torched right right before our eyes I'm happy.
I just thought Bosa or Warner would've graded higher.
He kicked ass in both Seattle games, but he did horrible in the Philadelphia game. He got tackles, but he blew quite a few coverages that could've easily resulted in touchdowns. Anyways, I'm so glad we got this guy, 10 interceptions in two years says he's a hawk and he's starting to show that.
I really like this young man. He was tossed into the fire, responding well
Another star in the making. Now we need Womack and Luter to step up.

I think Brown can play FS in this scheme. It's not like Gipson has a ton of range and he's done very well here.

I do think we would be more susceptible to busting coverages, but they're both playmakers who can hit. They just need to wrap up sometimes.

When one of the safeties need to cover the slot, we actually have Gipson cover the slot, and Hufanga/Ai'Ayir play FS. So the question is whether Hufanga or Ai'Ayir can cover the slot. For quite some time, we have had the luxury of Gipson/Ward being able to cover the slot receivers at a high level.

He's mostly played/started the last 4 games, and had Warner not snagged that pick last game, would probably be sitting at 3 INT's on the year. Absolute ballhawk, and with how explosive our offense is, other teams are going to be trying to push the ball downfield more and he's going to get a lot of opportunities for picks.
