He'll get no playing time, and then next season show he's clearly our best corner.

It's the Shanahan way.

Then get hurt again.
I wonder how long before he'll be ready, or if he'll play at all...we could use the support.

He seems to have missed more time than I'd expect for a bone bruise, even considering the higher end of the estimate range.
have him start a NCB. even if he hasn't played it he is prolly better than oliver
Wow ! Did not expect him to be activated before Womack. And frankly I thought he was going to be perma-stashed at some point.

Maybe he can get some snaps on outside in press to see what we have versus Ambry.

I thought the same and was thinking that's why we were looking at Verrett.

Pleasantly surprised. I Don't expect him to get much time unless one of our CB's is getting burned, but hopefully he lives up to being a 49er 5th round pick.

He must have been showing some good stuff in practice to get a shot ahead of Womack.

I could see Luter backing up Thomas on the outside with Lenoir taking over the nickel. Oliver is destined for the cut list if Verrett can show anything close to his prior form.

I doubt Oliver gets cut before the season is over. They have very little depth and he's a sunk cost with bunch of money paid and dead cap. Plus he isn't so bad when the other team doesnt put speed in the slot.
Good for him. Hope he looks good out there!

This. I think Oliver will be used for the bigger receivers and tight ends in the slot.
is he another 5th round gem??

He's not a Nickel type. He's an outside, press-man guy. When I saw him at the senior bowl, he's a prototypical cover3/press-man CB. Tall, incredible arm length and has straight line speed. The mold of a Charvarius Ward.

Where he wasn't great, was short area quickness in 1 on 1 drills and he's not a real thick guy.

I wouldn't put him in the slot, ever.
