Has a great day 1 as well.
We should have some solid competition at CB 2.

Let's be real, he'll only play if someone gets hurt.

Lenoir played well down the stretch.
But it will be a competition at CB #2. I don't think he's a lock to be the starter especially if Luter plays better than him.

Unsure. If I had to guess, sooner the better. In order to run the pressure packages like Wilks wants, he needs press CB's outside. Lenoir has come a long ways and he'll play his ass off. He's just a different style of CB. Nothing against him. Either way it'll be a battle and that's a great thing.
I can see Luter being the guy outside with a year of experience under him. I figured Lenoir was going to be our long term slot guy when we let Williams walk. But when Mosely went down and clearly Ambry Thomas wasn't going to be the guy, Demo stepped up. I'm thinking 2024/2025, the it's Ward and Luter outside and Lenoir manning the slot. We will still have Oliver in 2024 which is great because now it means we have some depth and more than 2 corners capable of starting. We have come a long way from 2020-2021.

I think the decision not to re-sign Moseley was a pretty big vote of confidence in Lenoir.

I agree. As I said, maybe Luter can be the guy with a year of experience under him, but I doubt he takes Lenoir's job at any point this season.

They weren't if he's referring to the rookie minicamp.

We had no insurance behind Lenoir except Thomas (who I still think has a chance to redeem himself but is definitely on the hot seat). Luter gives us that insurance, plus competition to push him and even potentially upgrade the position in coming seasons.
No evidence that he'll play the slot. Wilks said Oliver was the best free agent nickel corner and that's why he brought him in.

I have never had much luck trying to project the success of DBs when they get to the NFL. I finally gave up trying.
The college game is so different based on the style of defense that most teams play. You don't see the sophisticated zones like you see in the NFL. Teams tend to play more man defense and rely on a players coverage skills. That's one reason you see so many fast receivers dominate in college and then struggle a little in the NFL. It's much easier to beat a player one on one than it is when they have 2 man zone coverage. DBs that aren't blazing fast can be successful in a zone scheme if they are smart enough to grasp the concepts that the coach uses.

Don't be surprised if Luter starts outside and beats out Lenoir. Wilks loves him and like Oliver for the slot, handpicked him (and Brown). Wilks thinks Oliver is the best SCB in the game. We're not running C3 predominately anymore.
I'm not guaranteeing anything; just saying to keep an eye out for this and don't be surprised if it goes down like this. In fact, if Brown continues to shine and continues to be a play maker, he might even start over Gipson. There seems to be FAR more emphasis on play makers than in the past where we set historic lows for TO's (e.g. Tartt, Ward, Moseley, etc.).
