RB Khalan Laborn, Marshall (49ers UDFA Signing)

RB Khalan Laborn is an absolutely fantastic add IMO. IF you haven't seen him play, this dude is a baller. So many good running backs fall to UDFA status every year because the position doesn't seem to get the attention it used to.

Laborn has the forward lean you look for, always getting more yards than your average runner would get. Beyond this, I saw a guy with pass protection ability who gets low on short yardage, and runs with both power and elusiveness. IMO should have been a drafted player if not for some injury concerns early in his college career, and some off field issues. The highlights are great, but those don't always tell the whole story. You watch him individually play to play, and you'll see a super talented kid.

Sure, Marshall isn't the best competition, but Jeff Wilson (who I loved as an UDFA addition when we got him) came out of Conference USA as well. I think we got another potential stud, and I'm excited to see what he can do going into the pre-season. Looking at his spits, it didn't matter what caliber he played against, he produced. Statistically, he racked up big-time numbers this year, ranking top 10 in the nation in BOTH Rushing TDs (16) and Rushing yards (1513).

And he's got a ton of knee issues so he's exactly where he belongs.

I think the real issue was the off-field stuff. Getting dismissed from FSU is a pretty big deal. I think he proved to be plenty healthy this year, but he has to have his head on right. The talent is absolutely top tier, but we all know the NFL requires more than that. UDFA though? Zero risk, high reward with the hope that he's matured and put all that other stuff behind him.
This FO and R&D team is amazing at finding RB's...minus the 3rd round, of course. LOL

I love his acceleration. If Kyle goes to a more pass first offense, I'd love Laborn to run draw plays all day to counter the pass rush.
163 yards and a TD vs Norte Dame last year.

I wonder if RBs hope the Niners don't draft them because of the injury history.

Profiles are all over the place for this kid. Some say he was a 5 star recruit, others a 4. One said he ran a 4.6+ 40 the others say 4.5 and even some saying 4.46. One person mentions injuries the other says his lack of production wasnt injury related but circumstances...

Depending on whichever link you click on for his draft profile you are gonna get opinions all over the board. What's the most accurate profile?
