For s**ts and giggles, I'd love to see Fisher try out at RG and Burford try out at RT. And Poe/Nick push Brendel at C. That could be a fun athletic young OL to watch.

That's exactly what I'd like to see.

I think if we had a better known prospect for RG, then we would of kicked Burford out (I always thought we drafted him to replace McG). So I'm hoping fisher is a huge surprise and shows the coaches that he can handle RG and kick burford out. Then use Mckivitz as a swing tackle.

I love this!!!!

The thought of an offensive line consisting of Williams / Banks / Poe or Zakelj / Fisher / Burford is very enticing!

You think we got Trent's replacement on the team already or will he be replaced with someone via the draft? I hope the later tbh

Well, I think Trent plays at least the next three years. I know some on here are worried he will only play a season or two but he would miss out on essentially $100M if he doesn't play the next few season.

he also had a year off 9 years into his career, I think that'll give him a longer playing career than usual, especially with how freakish athletic he is.

So i think he will be here longer than some anticipate, but to answer your question - Depending on the quality in the draft, anticipate we use our first rounder next year on the o line. We won't have many needs and it'll be our first first round pick in years. So im hoping we snag one.

I think he she's very well performance wise like whitworth did for the rams, the former bengals. I think that was his name. He was all pro or pro bowler at like 39

Man I hope you're right. People anticipate it because he already was contemplating retirement this year, once that starts happening then there's a chance after every season. He definitely has the rest of his contract in him.

Did he say that? I didn't see that.

if we win a super bowl, i think he will love the feeling so much that he will want another one (the massive amount of money wouldn't hurt either) hahaha
He contemplated retirement for about a week and it was right after the season finished. Basically said that the season was very long and taxing on him.
Signing this kid was a great move in free agency. He could make it as our RT or RG of the future. Kid is strong, mobile and has a nasty attitude on the field. With the Niners signing Feliciano to back up Brendel and the guard spots, this kid should get every opportunity to compete with McKivitz, Burford, Moore and Zakelj as the RT of the present and future.

It's an interesting thought but I think it's important to remember that Fisher was a small school standout against inferior competition. It will be a big step up from there to the NFL. I would imagine he will end up at guard where his strength might be better utilized. I could see them grooming Zakelj for the center spot and you have to root for Poe just because of his spirit and character. I'm looking forward to seeing how he does in camp this year. Go Niners!

why was he at DII exactly? Grades? Did he start football late?

He had the option to go to a D1 program after starting at Shepard but chose to stay loyal to Shepard.

i believe coming out of highschool he was recruited to university of Maryland as a TE but left before the first season.

Nick zakelj is 6'6, isn't that way too large to be a center? I don't know if I've seen a center that big. Lol might block Purdys view, Or anyone who's starting. Lmao

Burford played a lot of tackle in college and he has 34 inch arms. He struggled at times last year but he improved throughout the season and hopefully builds up his body this off-season. The problem with kicking him out rn is who would replace him, ya know? Fisher is 25 and has a legit grown ass man body with elite speed/agility and lower. I just don't know what his technique will look like at this level, if it's ready.

I'm hoping he's a huge surprise.
he has all the tools - just need to find out if he has the technique/fundamentals. Hard to know when he's playing DII talent.

Poe Poe Poe will replace Burford's ass
This is Fisher one month prior to the draft. He carries himself well and talks about having a chip on his shoulder for not being invited to the combine. Dude sounds legit.

Interesting. Hope he keeps working if he cant pancake opponents. Love for him to compete with burford.

Would be HUGE if they liked him at Guard pushing Burford out to compete with Colton at RT.

Per ourlads, it looks like the Eagles are moving Steen inside to G too (32" arms).

i was reading an article about an interview Fisher gave (idk if it was the one up above or not - can't really understand him), but he said he's been doing some training at Guard and Center. I think his best chance to succeed is at guard, no doubt, with him being a backup center. That's the only way we will consider keeping him around - needs to be versatile. I can see him being able to play tackle too, but isn't his best fit in the nfl.
