it is nuts....but all 30-40 of his college catches are on YouTube ( I want to say it was 34 but I dont exactly remember) not a single bobble on any of the catches. I think I made a joke about him having monster mitts because to me...as a layman....it was his only trait that stood out.

Let's hope whatever they saw in the guy is still there and the game is still too fast for him and he will adjusts as time goes on.

Good point.

Kyle has always wanted Sam here. I think he wanted to see first hand if he could fix him. Overall he hasn't played better than Lance and I don't see him getting QB2. We will role with all 3 because we have too.

Well, yea. If any QB gets cut, it will be Allen.

I can sleep well knowing our 3 qbs are Purdy, Lance and Darnold. I'm highly comfortable with Purdy and Lance. Will be nervous with Darnold god forbid it gets to that point but I still feel Kyle can win games with him.

Did that video of him show all his targets or just his catches?

The accuracy has not looked good in clips the majority of camp and reports have corroborated that. Now this again today? I didn't think his ball placement was going to be this bad..

Sam seems to continue to fade. Based on reports, it never seemed like he was doing anything to threaten Trey. Lance has gotten more positive reports this camp and is now getting more reps. QB2 seems like his job at this point, barring something unforeseen.

I think it's too early to say either way. From the reports over the length of TC, it sounds like Sam struggles a bit right now with processing during the play, especially if his first read isn't open. We have no idea how Kyle sees things though and it's possible that the reps will flip during tomorrow's practice.

Has to show he can do it on this level, and will get his chances, also I do think you want utility, beyond a strictly return man, so needs to show that also. But he has an opportunity here, and he seems to be making a good first impression.

Jamison making the team 100% now

I really like him, but I am not there yet, if he's putting the ball on the ground in prax or games at return man, and not helping outside of that. He has a path here, but needs to put forth a strong August

Every report I've seen shows that he's been our 3rd-4th best corner. He should make the team.

Hand off to CMC to the left. Hand off to CMC up the middle. Dump off short right to CMC in the flat.

Most bummed about Drake. I guess this means no snaps for him on Sunday.

Looks like hamstrings and abductors are this years injury theme

Hamstrings should NOT be a problem at this point unless it's a heat thing. How about, oh Idk, STRETCHING??

Yeah I think it's all of the above. He always wanted to try him for himself and with uncertainty at QB at the time with Trey and Brock both coming off major injuries, he brought him in.

Yeah, I mean if you look back, he hasn't had much issues in the pre-season. So I don't know that we can put a ton of stock in the numbers. Still, really want to get some ability to "eye test" these guys.

I'd rather have those than acls and achilles.

Is it really that far fetched, that a guy with 55 starts, just might possibly be a lil further along, and give us a better chance to win games in a QB2 role, than a guy with like a handful of games played since HS?

I do think a tie here, or something close, goes to TL, Jack Hammer posted the same thoughts on this, thanks to what we have invested there. It's about winning a SB, and having depth at a spot which keeps biting us, may it go to the best option. I would be fine if TL gets it, in a tie. Just this comp alone, is probably leveling up Trey Lance. If Darnold is better, he should be QB2.

all his catches, some of his blocks if I recall.......

I could be wrong on this, I spent maybe 30 mins watching his two YouTube videos and looking up stats....so this is not some extensive amateur level scouting...but as I recall he had 43 targets and 34 catches his final year in college....it could have been 43 targets and 32 ...honestly I dont recall but it was not a terrible target versus catch ratio.

The only thing that stood out to me....was the ball hit his hands and stopped.....it was like the anti- Vernon Davis video.

Not a single one of his catches had any movement after the catch....it looked as solid as it could possibly look. Good extension, good catch radius, very little body catching (compared to some one like VD)

I think I said in the thread ( I know I thought it, just not sure if I typed it) The dude reminded me of Bear Pascoe....how he kept his head on a swivel and got his hands on the ball....dont know if he can get open, but if the ball gets to his hands he should be reliable. I figured he would be one of those find the soft spot in the zone and be a big body kind of guys.

It is too early to write the guy off, but I think most of us scratched our heads on this pick...and the one thing he appeared to do well did not follow him to the NFL...at least not yet....

Whichever reporter who said Latu was having the worst camp of anyone they watched.. they weren't kidding. Dude wasn't drafted in the 3rd just to block. Super disappointing, but not the end of the world. Many rookies have bad drop problems and it's fixable.

Someone else said it though, as of right now he's another Vance McDonald.
