"When Sam was back there he didn't look comfortable and would pat the ball not knowing where to go with the ball"
"When Trey was back there he just looked a lot more comfortable than Sam and knew where to go with it"

We've heard this all camp. I don't know how anyone can hear what we've been hearing about Darnold and be convinced that he's even close to challenging Trey for QB2 right now. That gap seems to be widening quite a bit the longer camp goes on.
He's not been accurate. He's not been processing well. And now he's getting less reps.

This is good news for the QB2 race, considering Darnold is trash

I'm not saying he doesn't….I wouldn't be shocked if Willis does over him all the same. So far he's been awful through camp, while Willis has shown flashes.
If you can't catch and you're not a great blocking TE, then there's no place for you. He's gotta do something. I know he was drafted later but Kaden Smith got the boot at final cuts.
who's the odd man out at TE? They're not keeping 5…they've kept only 3 for the past couple seasons.

Someone else said it though, as of right now he's another Vance McDonald.

TO couldn't catch for bleep, at the start. Head probably spinning with all he needs to grasp play by play, just to get lined up correct, and running the right stuff. If he needs a year to get things down like Gray did at wr, so be it, may happen.

This is correct. We see it again and again, receivers have to devote so many gray cells to what their adjustments are to DB movements that they don't have any left to focus and concentrate on just making the catch. It bit Jerry Rice the first half of his rookie season in a big way, and I've seen it again and again ever since. Most WR's don't have great rookie years, and TE's aren't any different. Give him a chance to get comfortable with the offense, and we'll then see where he's at. He's a third round pick. He'll get a chance.

Does anyone think with the press he has had, the dude would be a high priority target to snatch up if the 49ers tried to practice squad him?
I would bet a coke that special teams performance is going to play a part in who makes the roster as TE3.

Barrows tweeted that Trey got more reps because he was more productive in the 2-minute drill than Darnold.
Trey put together a solid camp and apparently was solid again today vs the raiders. I'm really looking forward to seeing him on Sunday.

Jimmy didn't go against Bosa and Drake and Greenlaw
Purdy went against Chandler Jones and Max Crosby possibly the best DE duo in the NFL

This was expected by me. More than anything I think Jimmy wanted to outplay his niner counterparts. And today and tomorrow and Sunday are huge for Lance.

And this is while wearing a no contact jersey.
