Is this a make or break year?

I'm just wondering what kind of pressure Kyle is under this year. We've been in this Superbowl window the past 2 to 3 seasons and just keep falling short for whatever reason. I don't think Kyle will be fired no matter the outcome of this up coming season. But I do think we could see a major shake up with core players on this team if we don't get number 6..

Will Kittle be here after next season? Juice, Trent, Ayuik? I wonder if a major re-tooling will take place of we don't win it all this year.
The question is if we lose in the NFCCG again, will we retain Kyle and John... and the answer is probably yes.

The core players are in their prime. I don't think it's a make or break year in that if they don't win it all, a major shakeup will take place. What would they do, get rid of Kittle, or Deebo, or Warner, Trent, CMC? All those guys are core players to build around and only Trent would be considered old. No need to get rid of any of them unless there is locker room drama. Getting rid of Kyle or Lynch would also be a mistake imo. Lots can happen throughout the course of a season so we'll see, but if things are normal and the 49ers fall short, then get better and try again.
Nah. Kyle and John will just keep switching QB's annually and get another 7 years. Brilliant.
No. Why should it be?
No. Not make or break.
Andy Reid had 13 years in Philly with plenty of NFC championship game appearances.
I expect Kyle and John to at least get to 10 but thereafter if there is no Lombardi then we could ask that question.

So, we now have the best skill positions in the league by a mile. We've got a turnover producing, top 7 d. We even have a QB who -- gasp -- seems to produce touchdowns.

If we can't get past bridesmaid status, you have to ask if we ever will with this regime.

Which of course isn't so bad compared to the dark years, right? We can all agree there.

But it's not the Walsh era either. Unfortunately that's the standard.

I look for some front office changes, enhancements to our draft organization.

Maybe supplement our staff with an experienced OC/ADC, depending on how the season goes.

The Yorks are spending top dollar on payroll. They need to create life time memories to grow their investment.

This all assumes we extend Bosa amicably and successfully navigate this franchise-altering moment.

If we don't do that, we're not on the doorstep anymore and all bets are off.

Not a make or break season but we also need more context imo.

All it takes is a bad season where suddenly Kyle loses the team but if we don't get it done because of other circumstances it would be completely irrational to get rid of the HC who has us playing well.

I do think we have to find our QB1 for the long term. Once that happens, Kyle is buying himself a lot of time but if the same QB carousel crap keeps happening whether injuries(god i hope not) or inconsistent play then we'll have issues. We need Kyle to become the Andy Reid level HC but without having Kyle go to another team to make those decisions.

Agreed. It's not blow it all up mode if they don't get it done this year but something will definitely have to change.
it is always make or break
do or die
such is the state of the franchise, when your owner sets the standard, of Super Bowls
if the team just followed the simple standard, which has been set, we would be back-to-back-to-back-to-back NFL champs, entering this season
so we do have some catching up to do

All depends on the QB situation. Eventually, we wont have a studs and depth all over the team. An elite QB could mask that fact.

Do I detect a Sam Darnold reference?
its okay. They can get Kirk Cousins next year if it doesnt work out
Make or break for the roster? I'd say very possibly. Hard to pile talent like this indefinitely. I fear that something might have to give.

Make or break for Kyle / John? No. They are performing excellently vs the league. Just a very small elite have outshone them the past few seasons. No way you can rely on replacements to outperform them. They will be given further opportunity to deliver, regardless (unless things go badly wrong).
