With all due respect. Shanahan has and he is the one who runs the show so...
Oh I know he has. He's put all his stock into Brock.
Again this is the same dude that gave up 3 1sts just to get Lance in the building, passed on Mahomes/Watson/Allen for Kirk. Passed on Brady for Jimmy and made JG the highest paid player in history off of 5 meaningless games.
Passing on Mahomes will always come back to haunt us.
We could have won at least one super bowl with Shanny by now If we had drafted Pat.
This is the biggest miss of all. Can't stress this enough. We probably would have min of 1 superbowl by now.
I feel like Kyle values Alex Smith traits and not Aaron Rodgers traits, whatever they may be specifically. Drafting Trey seems so foolish now, especially given the stupid amount of running Kyle had him do last year to get him hurt and not develop him as a QB.
Anyhow, team looked terrible yesterday. The good thing is that it was all the back-ups.
As ineffective as those designed Trey runs were, you have to call those because Trey cannot execute the pass plays anywhere near the standard needed to play in the NFL.
at risk of beating a dead horse, i get the need to run him a little to get him comfortable, use his (supposed) running skill set, etc. but you can't develop as a passer by running him, he needs to pass.
that said, as the 1st half wore on, Trey seemed to play better/faster/with more timing & rhythm/etc. that seems to indicate that he's not a nick mullens/beathard/cody pickett type of talent but instead a pretty raw kid who just needs reps. he could be good some day or he could not. sadly his injury last year (which is why i am still mad about the excessive running) probably torpedoed his career as a starter. even if he goes somewhere else this year (i firmly think we should keep him) or next he likely won't be given a chance like mariota in ATL or tannehill in TEN, who are both failed starters at drafted teams. i think we should hang on to Trey and Sam, if affordable, for the remainder of Purdy's career. without QB injury history/luck we know we will need them.
