KR/PR Camp Competition w/ McCloud Out

According to Kyle, Bell will get an opportunity on kicks and punts, and Gray would be considered on kickoffs. Haven't heard him mention Jamison, but I believe STs coach Schneider said it would depend on how he's fielding the ball, so he could get a chance too.

Bell I think might be a lock to make the roster now with McCloud out, but I think he'll solidify that with a strong showing at KR/PR in the pre-season.

Full list of guys under consideration, according to the coaches, or have prior experience:
WR Danny Gray (no prior XP)
WR Ronnie Bell
WR Dazz Newsome
CB D'Shawn Jamison
CB Ambry Thomas

Always got Deebo for kick returns and anyone but Aiyuk for punts 😂
In the past, they leaned more conservative here. More sure hands and more fair catches. Bell might be given the first shot given he's probably slightly ahead of Jamison as a roster lock but I hope Jamison gets a shot because he's more explosive.
It's legitimate to ask if teams even need a kick returner, punt returner yes.

I don't know about all that. I've heard much more positive about Jamison than Bell and think the opposite is true, I think he is ahead as a roster lock. CBs are much harder to find then WRs
Curious to see what it looks like on Sunday. I find it interesting that they want to try Gray on kickoffs. He never fielded a kick or punt his entire college career. Bell only returned 2 kicks his whole college career, but did have a lot of XP on punts.

D'Shawn Jamison is the only guy with a lot of XP at both spots. Well, and Ambry Thomas. I believe Dazz Newsome has some KR/PR experience too.

You think? With McCloud down and Luter still injured, I had Bell with a slight advantage but I could certainly see the other side.
Offense (check), defense(check), ...special teams...
Snead and Bell are returning punts in joint practice. Dammit give Jameson a chance please

Yeah they been raving about Jamison and he's already running with the 2's, even going to get reps in the slot. Bell……..dime a dozen WR

Jamison >>>>> Bell
from what I was seeing, at return man

I liked Bell and thought he had a good game, and yes I realize he had an INT, still good hands on the other stuff, and was open a lot
Kick returns should just fair catch everything. Tired of seeing these penalties backing us up. Just take the ball at the 25 and let's move on. Not worth the 1-3 big returns we could get over the course of the season.

Good point. A lot of what was happening, is maybe preseason shenanigans. They want to see Moody do the directional, short stuff. They already know he can boot it out of the back. They want our guys to have returns, to evaluate. Once season starts, I expect a lot of the actual tactics to come into play. I was losing my mind with every Jamison return being a lil exciting, and here come the flags
