I hope he does thrive elsewhere. It's certainly not going to be here.

Really? And you know this how? In case you aren't aware the team went through quarterbacks last year like they were disposable. I think it is highly unlikely that they will part ways with either Lance or Darnold.

Yeah Kyle has PTSD from not having any QB in the NFC championship game last season. So he is going to want atleast 3 guys. He pretty confirmed early on in training camp that he is going to keep 3 QB's.

Agree with both of you guys, no way Kyle goes only 2 QBs, with the new 3rd QB rule, he has to be on the 53 to be deemed active, can't be a PS QB.

I don't. I don't want any ex niner thriving anywhere. why would you actively.root for another team?

I loved Jimmy but i hope he's massive failure anywhere else. I wanted rice to fail with the Raiders. I wanted Montana to fail with the chiefs. Why root for another player on another team? Unlike some posters here, my heart is with the niners. ONLY.

Yeah after last year, it will be a long time before Kyle rolls with just 2 QBs.
I can't believe people pumping up Darnold. He's a proven failure. He had two shots and couldn't even unseat Baker Mayfield and PJ Walker in Carolina. "Bububub Shanny magic." Well, Shanny magic might do wonders with Trey as well. Samwell Darnold is a proven bust. Trey is still moldable and the jury is still out on him. I'd rather see what we have in him.

The problem with Sam is he can't make a play with his arm when the first read isn't there. Either he hits the first guy on time or the whole play goes to hell. There is zero chance he could make the play Brock did on the move throwing to Jennings or the play Trey made throwing to Martin on the sidelines.

So what you are left with is deciding is Treys indecisiveness a bigger problem than Sam not being able to function when his primary isn't open. Which problem can be mitigated best if they have to play this season. That's what Kyle will need to weigh.

Todd Bowles, Adam Gase, and Matt Rhule, all fired during Darnold's tenure. Hell, Aaron Rodgers would have been a bust under Nolan and Singletary, and Tomsula. You don't know what Darnold can become yet, and neither do I.

Good. Keep all 3.

Let's go Trey! QB2 for sure!

If you have Trey as QB3 meaning you can only use him as an emergency QB on gameday, It would also mean you can't bring him into games when the score is lopsided to get him those reps he needs. This is why you have to have Trey as QB2 because in those blowout games you are going to want to play Trey over Darnold. Any rep you can find for Trey is a benefit.

Brock did the same last year to the future insurance sales agents as well as QB3 playing in the preseason games..

It translated just fine vs the 1s - not to mention Lance already was 16-23 for 249 yards 2TDs and 1INT vs NFL starters in a must win game that gave us a chance to make a Super Bowl run.

Give Lance reps and live game experience and he can be a top 10 qb easy.
Plus he is only 23 yrs old.

True, but how many times has the team injured all three QB's. Can't keep worrying about losing two to three QB's every season, especially when roster spots are needed elsewhere. And if QB's keep getting injured then the problem lies elsewhere, seems as if the 49ers are the only team worried about keeping three QB's.

I much rather keep an extra RB and/or DE than to keep worrying about keeping three QB's.

Sam has been in the league for 5 yrs with minimal upside. Lance has a lot more upside in my opinion. But what do I know.
