The FO should get criticism for the trade, but they should also get credit for finding Brock. Both the trade for Trey and finding a Mr. Irrelevant in Brock and have him put up top 5 QB numbers is incredibly improbable, yet both things happened. You can't make this stuff up.

If Brock looks like he did last year, we found our guy for the next 15 years.

That's all I wanted. Mission accomplished.

If Brock doesn't work out, we are back to square one since we all know what Darnold is. Garbage and he proved it tonight besides the one throw.

Trading Lance was a mistake since if Brock gets hurt we are f**ked. I get it though he was moved to make room for Bosa and there needed to be some sort of pin drop.

I look at it this way. JL said we need the money to ys. There was no competition. KS spun it that way, but knows Darnold ain't it and is hoping to God that Brock doesnt get hurt. If Brock f**ks his UCL again, his career is most likely f**ked since he will need Tommy John Surgery. Look at Ohtani, poor guy is about to lose 200M cause of the same injury.

The clock has started to tick because you better be right when you fail this badly to evaluate talent at the most important position. 6 years... 6 years and we haven't found a franchise QB... Though it's looking like we lucked into one. Still we don't know if he's the real deal given the sample size. Furthermore, the unwinding of this FO and Coaching staff has begun. Lynch said it's not Lance's fault that they didn't build an O around his talents... KS is now saying that he believes they did but he got hurt....

So which is it? I think we are starting to see who wanted Lance and who didn't...

As much as I love KS... I always believed his stubbornness would be his downfall. There's a crack in the ship... We better hope that Brock can patch it make all go away or else it might be a long long season.
This narrative that Brock better stay healthy because Trey is no longer around to save the day is hilarious pure comedic gold.
I think this trade officially makes this whole experiment a disaster. I always felt it was worth the risk to move up a take a player that they felt had great potential. I don't think they were wrong in doing what they did on draft day.

I feel they messed up on how they developed him. Obviously the injuries set things back but naming Trey the starter in hs 2nd season when he wasn't ready was a mistake. We'll never know for sure but that broken ankle could have been the result of his indecisiveness. Since then he never really got a decent amount of playing time. They kept telling us they saw a lot of improvement in practice and then they name Darnold the #2 QB. For a young QB like Lance that had to sting after the rehab and all the work he put in during the off season.

in the end they traded 3 number ones and a #3 pick for a 4th rounder. If Trey does go on to become a good QB this will go down as the biggest screw up in team history. They definitely got their boozles bammed.

Just stop being a fan... easy as that.

Had one of the most depleted rosters and currently rank in the most injured over the past five years..... still made it to a championship game... With Josh Norman LOL. Made it again with half of a healthy team.
Maybe some sh*tty fans dont understand enough about football to keep one from putting feet in your mouth. Prove me wrong. Teams that win the championship are the ones with starters standing upright during the games. Niners have done more with less than any team in this league and I welcome the debate on that.

I think the point you are missing is why we've had "less". Yes all teams make mistakes, and this isn't even the first for the 49ers. The amount of misses in the early rounds is scary for this regime though. Out of the NINE 1st round picks we've had/should have had - We have Nick Bosa and Brandon Aiyuk to really show for it. One world class talent that would have been hard for any team (except Arizona) to mess up, and a good but not great wide receiver. Out of all the 2nd AND 3rd round picks combined, we have Fred Warner and Deebo - With Banks being good, and "hoping" for Drake Jackson. That's a LOT of wasted high end picks!

Yes, we've had some amazing late round hits - there is NO denying that. But it's impossible not to look at this and say "something" isn't right. If it's different evaluators looking at talent ranges, if it's positions that we evaluate worse than others - it's something that needs to be looked at and adressed. And after 6 years, it still hasn't been.

Trey Lance leads Cowboys to first playoff win over the 49ers in over 31 years, gets his first playoff win after a much-maligned career. Lance threw for 356 yds and 4 tds, two to CeeDee Lamb who torched the 49er secondary for 210 receiving yds. The outcome was never in doubt as the Cowboys built a 28-0 halftime lead and finished with a 42-21 wildcard weekend victory. Lance also rushed for 56 yds and a td and the Cowboys defense, led by Micah Parson and Trevon Diggs, sacked 49er backup QB CJ Beathard seven times and intercepted him three.

Trey Lance, entrenched as QB1 at the beginning of the season for the first time in four years, has seen a career resurgence leading the Cowboys to a 12-5 record while throwing for 4,417 yds and 33 tds. The Cowboys go on to host Jordan Love and the Packers in the divisional round next week. This is Kyle Shanahan's last game as 49er head coach as he accepted a six year contract to coach his alma mater, the Texas Longhorns this upcoming fall.

Lmao. So now we're content with just making playoffs? My god, how far have this franchise and its "fans" fallen. Jed York said it himself, we don't raise nfc west division banners, we don't raise nfc championship banners, we raise Super Bowl banners. And so far Kyle is no better than any other Super Bowl losing coach.

Yes, I am content with contending for Super abowls consistently.

Billed Belicheck lost many Super Bowls.

What would you suggest? Sounds like you want Jed to make.aanother Erickson or Tomsula move.

They don't think Lance could help this year any more than Allen can. They have seen a lot more of Lance than we have.

Not at all. This staff doesn't mind any shame. They take chances. They cut their losses early if they see fit. It's what has allowed them to keep us competitive these last several years.

Purdy doesn't have a full season under his belt tho. Is Darnold fully repaired?

Well....he was repaired enough to convince him that he's a viable option behind an inexperienced player.

Let's see what happens. This staff gets more right than they do wrong.
The part that bothers me is how easy they gave up on a guy they used so much draft capitol to get.

If your going to gamble that much you need to be prepared to ride it out and see what the ending is. The injuries prevented anyone from seeing what Trey can become. He may never be a great QB or even a good ne but we don't know. That's what bothers me. They stayed with JG through all his injuries and we know he was decent but had limitations. He had no high ceiling potential like Trey is supposed to have. To give up after 2 seasons tells me they either weren't prepared for how green Trey was or they just couldn't figure out how to develop him.

I won't root against Trey but I hope he doesn't become a star for Dallas of all teams.
I wouldn't say they gave up on him easily.
