Dude read the quote YOU posted. "We make the playoffs every year and are SB contenders." Some of y'all need to kick it with Lions fan sometime.

Some of y'all need to travel back to the 1980s to see how a real championship franchise is run.

I don't have to, I was there for all of the Superbowls. That you have to have it pointed out to you that this is not the same game as it was in 1981 is troubling. The rules, both in management and on the field, have drastically changed.
No way of knowing what happened prior to this trade, but one thing I could imagine is the scenario where Trey goes to JL and Kyle and says, "guys, I have been a good team member, but the way things look now, I may never get to start if i stay here…maybe I'm just jinxed being here. Would you please look for a team to trade me to/?"

No idea if that even came close to happening, but if it did, I bet JL went out of his way to make it happen. I think they would have done something just like this , especially if the player had been a "good scout" …but Trey could read the tea leaves and he was not starting here. He also hadn't played , really , in in 3 yrs here, plus another covid yr at NDSU, and only 1 yr of college ball before that. His time clock was running out just like a 40 yr old woman who wants to get pregnant starts worrying once she hits 40. Trey was a good teammate, he MAY be a really fine QB in time and with PT under his belt.

But the Cowboys? Hmmm. Well, Dak is this "wunderkind" in DAL , but he sure doesn't look like a guy who is going to win the SB. So maybe Trey can work up to Q2 in DAL and then get some reps, and finally start. But altho I hoped Trey would have success here, i don't hope for that in DAL. They are , after all , one of our all time nemeses.

Trey got picked way above his true value and it was a mistake…primarily in his total lack of football experience. Ok, so we goofed. Well, we made up for that with a WAG (wild azz guess) on last pick in the draft…Brock. We did pass on him 6 times but 31 other teams passed on him 7 times. So yeah, we got lucky…damn lucky. However it is what it is. We got robbed by health issues the last 4 yrs, and then another 4 yrs before that. As they say in the bigs, "that's the way the ball bounces"….and yes, we were way overdue for some for incredible luck…which we got. Still our guys were smart enough to be THE team that took Brock. The pendulum always swings back, and with Brock, that is exactly what happened.

I think John and kyle wanted to do good by TRey, due to some really strange circumstances ever since his "3 FIRSTS" pick. And big Jer was only too happy to help us out. Besides it gave him the thing he craves more than life itself…attention, glory, in the media.and at home.

So I hope Trey doesn't end up being what we had hoped for (because it is DAL on the other end of this), but , ummm……there is the other little matter of that $10 mil per salary that we no longer have for a 3rd string QB….and i hope by now some of that money is in Nicky B's hands.

The only other scenario i could imagine was Kyle's and John's willingness to pay 3 guys salaries to keep 3 starter caliber QBs on active so we could secure a very good QB in case both the others got injured. I do believe they at least had that in the back of their minds, but then reality set in and they knew they had to trade Trey…not just for their sakes, but also Trey's. And paying 3 starter QBs is just one too many.

Ok, guys , now put this to bed and for heaven's sakes, pay Nick what he is worth. He deserves the biggest best salary of any DE in football, or any DT for that matter. Do it…please…

But ashamed? Nah, fuggedaboudit.

Yeah. I bet Eddie d would have won 5 more super bowls in this era. The Yorks are retards. This dates back to firing mooch for nothing. He got 6 years, Kyle is at 7 and has not won s**t. Fucjing harbaugh who's a better coach got 4 years .
You just lost all credibility there my friend. Harbaugh is trash.

Jed won't fire Kyle because he's not a f**king moron with hurt feelings over an oft-injured qb3 that they drafted way too high. They did the adult thing, they cut their losses, to a degree that most in the know didn't think would be possible by getting a fourth, and moved on. What's embarrassing is the small part of the fanbase that would choose a guy who cannot contribute to the team in any meaningful way over the coach that has made it work with the likes of Jimmy G.

HARBAUGH is GOOD at best.. but what he can do better than Kyle is game plan around his opponents..

AS for the real question about the issue of being " Ashamed " ...

How can you not be ASHAMED when both GM and HC goes ALL IN on a young QB and only gives up the whole farm, ONLY to give the kid 4 games and trade him?

It was a mistake, Moon, so you own up, admit it and move on. Well, that's what just happened. In case you didn't notice, that extra $10 mil will be very helpful is signing the best player on the team… Nicky B.

Where are the championships since this is a championship roster?? 7 years and nothing but losses and a nfc west banner lmfao. We HANG SUPER BOWL BANNERS AND NOT SUPER BOWL LOSES

I love it when some hyper emotional individual sets aside time, and reason, to come and embarrass themselves on a public forum.

Here's something that doesn't make sense. Last season. Kyle felt good enough about Trey that he named him the starter. This year after apparently showing a lot of improvement ( Kyle's words, not mine) he gets dropped to 3rd on the depth chart. If he was good enough to start in 2022 and improved in the off season, how did he drop to 3rd string and then get traded?

I heard that Trey had fewer game appearances (8) than any top 10 pick in NFL history. I'm not sure if that's just top 10 QBs or all top 10 picks. He got 4 brief appearances in his rookie season but didn't pass a lot. He had a broken finger in pre season so that may have been one reason. He got 2 starts that year and then 2 last year. One lasted less than one quarter before he broke his ankle. Not a lot of reps.

If that's what they think is giving an inexperienced QB time to develop, I hope they never have to develop another one. They completely botched this one. On the other hand I understand why they traded him. If Trey was unhappy then it's best to move him. They don't need a distraction on this team.

You're missing the most important parts of the equation. Time and money. Both ran out on Trey due to his injuries and lack of progress developing due to his injuries. His price and his inability to win even the backup job meant this year was his last even if we found no trade. With his salary not being commensurate to his actual ability to play quarterback, there was no choice other than trading him before we had to package our picks with him to unload his contract due to the money he is owed. The cowboys actually bailed us out on this one. Trey should've stayed in school and played at least another year, he was way farther from ready than anyone, including myself, thought. The worst part of this whole deal to me is the hyper emotional fans who start threads like this embarrassing display of ignorance.

MISTAKE... after 4 games ??

I mean, I was never crazy about Lance to begin with (but did support him) and I remember hoping that we trade for JaMar Chase but I knew we gave up too much so it wont be for a WR... so I was realy hoping it would be Fields over Lance..

nevertheless, are you now saying that the 10 million is worth more than keeping Lance (make him the 2nd stringer) NOT knowing the Purdy really is the real thing (after 7 games only)?
The way I see it is, you win some you lose some but don't get down, admit your screw ups and move on, they did the right thing.

Perhaps you have a point but to make this an honest debate it appears Trey requested a trade and was disengaged after the news.

this was a two way street.

the last thing this team needs is locker room poison.

I would refer you to my post #347 above. It answers your questions. And the $10 mil….let's just say it doesn't hurt in the contract for Nick.

I'm pretty sure Lance would rather be a 2nd stringer than a 3rd stringer.. IF Shanny really wanted him to stay, he would have been smart enough to do that.. Darnold would have never request to get cut by being a 3rd stringer...

bottom line, the whole thing was MISHANDLED totally..

.. u give up the farm because you saw something special in Lance, then you give him up after 4 games by which he did not get a chance because of injury?

... PURDY, as awesome as he was last year, still has NOT done anything..

WHY is it so hard for you to be ashamed of your HC's thinking ?
