I think the niners defense will reveal itself finally. We've watched a vanilla defense with backups most of the preseason and fans are worried. I don't think that carries into the season. Not going to lie though. The Nickel scares me.

this completely.... the real 9er defense will show up and crush the steelers

I have us winning 27-17. But I think we may be the minority in here. It seems most do not have any confidence at all in this team.

We were all confident last year when they played a much weaker Bears team. Early season predictions are always tough since every year teams have some turnover and often a new look.
Steelers I expect will go 11 personnel a lot, knowing we're potentially weak at nickel. They'll test that. If we hold up there, then I think we're good.

Obviously run defense will be tested too.

Yeah, I think we beat them pretty handily. Not that they're a pushover but I think our defense does best against guys like Jenny pickett. They'll probably start off scoring but then our defense will adjust. Week ones are always weird cause you don't have recent film on them.

but I don't see how their defense can stop our offense. Their defense is solid but it's not super athletic and fast like the cowboys. That's why they were such a challenge in the last playoff game against them.
In 13 games last year, pickett threw 7 touchdowns & 9 int with 2400 yards. I just don't think he's going to take some massive leap where he is a 30+ touchdown guy all of a sudden.

he will probably be like a 17-18 touchdown guy this year, 1 a game. I just don't think this offense can keep up with us. What we have to do is NOT kick fieldgoals but score touchdowns. They want a close game, we don't. Especially with where our special teams is at right now

Their D and O are going to be problems too, lol. Throw in a great coaching staff and it could get ugly for us.

Game isn't going to get ugly, let's not talk as if this is a team that's projected to pick top 3 going against the prime Roethlisberger Steelers now. Either way this is going to be a close game

When you say close game do you mean like one of those games where the other team goes up like 17 or 24 points and we battle back to lose by 7 or 10?

I've watched Pitts last 4 games last year and their preseason games this year and they are a helluva squad. I just don't think we match up well with them.
That doesn't mean we can't win, I just think this early in the season it's a problem for us. If it was week 5 or 6, then I think it's an entirely different story.

I'd love to be wrong, but IMO we are not ready yet for a game on the road across the country against a team that will be among the best this season.

Guess we'll see soon enough, but you know that old saying….."that's why they play the games" lol.

Oh so just because a team finished well LAST YEAR means it's the same team for one and they're going to pick off exactly right? And you're really going off preseason when their last game against ATL their ones went against ATL's 2's and 3's. Why don't we match well with them? What's the difference from them from most of the teams we'll see this year? They do have a god squad but let's not act like we don't either. By close I mean like by 3 game winning kick type game
I watched all of the preseason game highlights of the Steelers. These guys are no joke. It will be a real test for the team right out of the gate. I think we'll all have to keep our fingers crossed that Bosa's agent will come down off his high horse and get a contract worked out by then. Wouldn't do to have to face that offense without one of our best defensive players. Go Niners!

Pickett was heating up at the end of last season,. I would expect his comfort level as a Pro to be even better just as Purdy has. They key here like always vs young QB's is stop the run and see if they can beat you with Pickett's arm. Same can be said about Purdy, it's just easier said than done.
