49ers at Steelers Pregame Thread - 2023 Season Week 1

Pickett can scoot around so I would sit back in coverage and disguise looks, hoping it confuses him enough. Offensively, if Watt and Heyward can be somewhat contained - not easy - the 49ers offense is going to be fine.

Niners need to do what this either teams do when they try to offset Bosa and the pass rush. Get that ball out quick as possible
Should we be queried about Gipson ? He's missed a few this week and again today

We should be worried that George Brittle is hurt again.

Kittle is always hurt. Love the guy but man
Sounds like there should be a huge sea of red out there
Week one is always unpredictable.
Bad teams can look good, good teams can look bad.

Steelers ended last year with a lot of momentum and hype.

We have a lot of similarities. 2nd year rising quarterback, although ours had a better year.

Top tier pass rush, superstar safety, pro bowl running back.

We do have more star power on offense I think, but the Steelers allowed the least rushing touchdowns last year while we allowed the least yardage. We were nearly identical against the pass.

Playing in Pittsburgh isn't easy but at least if our PS kicker plays, he's kicked there before.

On paper it should be close but paper isn't reality. If Bosa doesn't play, I think it'll be a one score game.

Me and my son will be there, right up front next to niners sideline

Where you hearin that
Starting faster has been a point of emphasis for coach Kyle Shanahan.

"Yeah, Kyle mentioned it," 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel said on Monday. "Last year if we get one of those two games against the Broncos or the Bears, we have a first-week (postseason) bye.

looks like Kyle is making an emphasis to start this year off better than we have in the past, exciting!

Absolutely this. I remember at least two years the 49ers started 1-0 and got my hopes sky high, only to s**t the bed the rest of the year.

Excellent post!

I think their D will go after McKivitz all day long w/stunts and bull rushes.

This is going to be a very tough game.

If Bosa isn't playing, it'll be a lot tougher.

Well, once I think about it, I think our edge guys just need to hold their ground.

AA and Hargrave should blow things up in the middle. We need Ferrell, Hyder, and Jackson to set the edge, contain, and do their thing. We know Hyder is great in this system, Jackson was scratching the surface, and Ferrell we hope can do better here.

If any of them stand out, we'll be better off than expected, at least short term.

Supreme confidence in Hyder. I am glad he is back.
