Alot of question marks. Likely no Bosa. Defense has looked mediocre at best in TC and pre season. No kicker.

They have built a more than adequate squad and Pickett is more Brock like than not. They picked up an OLman from the Eagles didn't they? Their WRs are damn good and their defense is strong.
Not running scared but this is a hell of an open to start the season. Maybe a nice warmup at AZ would have been better? Or maybe get them out of the way early. It would be most helpful to have Nick and Kittle out there.
Tied with Brock for interest will be our DC. I don't know why I'm not feeling as strong with him as I should. If we win the first two I'll be feeling better about our DC.
Imagine losing that warmup at Arizona then having to travel to Pittsburgh
Imagine trying to make up another hypothetical and then creating your own narrative where we lose this hypothetical you created.

They have one of the top dlineman in the league.. one of the top pass rushers in the league...and one of the top safeties/playmaker in the league.
One of the better running backs who wouldn't be intimated by our defense, and some recieving weapons.
So yeah if we are not on point and we don't rattle Pickett early on, they have the playmakers to stay in the fight.
We have to punch them in the mouth first, before they pull a Colt McCoy James Conner game on us.
This right here..
I'm hoping/assuming the team is taking this more serious then some of the fans.

I'm not foolish enough to underestimate not having Bosa. No Bosa and Kittle makes this game a tossup in my eyes. First of all, its hard to win on the road period -- let alone when missing 2 of your best players. I often feel like if Bosa isnt getting to the QB usually nobody else is on this defense. Will be a great game to see if Drake Jackson and the gang can step up. Also Pickett can run, a known 49er weakness. Offense needs to put up 27+pts

I think Kittle will play. I thought Bosa would be signed by today since tomorrow (Wednesday) is the start of the practice work for the Steelers. If he isn't signed by tomorrow he isn't playing.
I think they can win without him but yes, it's going to have to be the Brock Purdy and offense show because the defense is probably just average without Bosa. The DEs do not scare anyone. Maybe Hargrave will be the difference, who knows.

All they gotta do is double Hargrave because no one else is going to consistently beat someone 1 on 1. I think we lose this game unless we put up near 40 or just run the ball great taking time off the clock. a lack of pass rush is a death sentence no matter whose at qb especially going against a team with 2 legit wrs, te, on the road, week 1 and 10 am at a hostile environment.

So AA is singled up? We also have A DC that likes to blitz. Yes the defense will look different, but if Drake can't even be average, this was never going to work even with Bosa.
Also, we went 2020 without Bosa, with AA playing a lot of edge, no Hufanga, no Ward, Greenlaw wasn't at this level, etc and was still top 5 in yards given up. D should be top 10 without Bosa, good but maybe not consistently great.

The Steelers have two very good RBs and an improved OL. They will try to dominate with the running game between the tackles which has been a problem for the 49ers in the past. They will try to take time off the clock to limit the time Purdy and the offense have the ball.
The offense will have to be flawless when they have the ball. Without Kittle, that will be a tough job.
I still expect a win but it will likely come down to the kicker in the final seconds.
