If we're being honest here, the Cowboys had the plan to stop Purdy last playoffs. Just crowd the middle and force him to throw dinks and dunks to the sidelines for little gain. The Steelers will use the game plan.

If he wants to win the game, he'll have to throw deep to the sidelines. Because he has a weaker arm, this could lead to interceptions which Peterson is insinuating.

i guess they didnt watch much film last year

Lol, OP thinks he's some D coordinator that has cracked the code.

That's what the Cowboys did. Go rewatch the tape. Purdy's bread and butter are short throws to the middle. The Cowboys took that mostly away from him and made the 49ers beat them on passes behind the LOS and quick outs to the sidelines. I expect the Steelers to do the same and have Purdy beat him on throws he's not known for.

The problem with this take is that Purdy didn't throw one interceptible ball in that game according to PFF. If anything, the Cowboys got success with the insane pressure they were able to generate with Parsons in that game.

Certainly early in the game. Later on, not so much. Brock and the Niners offense adjusted. Run game tenderized the Dallas D

Yes, he did. He almost threw one early in the first quarter to Aiyuk on a deep throw. The defender almost intercepted it until Aiyuk stuck his hand out. He didn't throw many deep passes after.

If that's your only example, it's not a good one. A bit behind Aiyuk, but contested isn't the same as interceptable. Portraying that pass as a clear-cut interceptable ball is stretching, IMO.

Now, a late throw in the flat or on an out that gets jumped and dropped by the DB? Sure.

It's at 13:42 here

That defender did not "contest" the ball. He had his hands out to catch the ball until Aiyuk poked it away. Even the commentators said the defender almost came down with the ball.

This is almost as bad as when random tried to analyze the kittle drop by blaming Jimmy.

I mean, I'm seeing a ton of analyst picking Pitt over SF. Why? I don't think there's a single position group where they're legit better.

Pretty sure the preseason position group was better 😂

😝

On the road, east coast, first game of the season, playoff caliber opponent, great defense, great coach.

A loss here would be depressing, but it's understandable why people are picking Pitt to win.

If I didn't have a rooting interest in the game, I'd say it's a pick'em game. I think Vegas has it right, we're slight favorites, but money is coming in on Pitt side.

Right. I don't think there's another team that would play at Pittsburgh game 1 of the season that would be an overwhelming favorite.

It would be interesting to see how the lines for KC, PHI, BUF, and CIN at PIT would look. I would venture to guess they'd all be -1.5 to -3.5
Just found out the Steelers remade their starting LB group coming into this season. Kyle and his weapons gonna wreck their LBs

Agreed. And I don't think analysts would be overwhelmingly selecting any of those teams to cover or even win outright.
