Draft record failure

Kyle didn't want Lance, he wanted Wilson or Mac Jones, but when Saleh took Wilson Lynch made the call to Lance because Jones was a mid to late 1st.

Lynch drafted Kinlaw after not being able to negotiate a DBuck extension.

He drafted Solly Thomas because he was a classmate from Stanford.

He drafted Rueben Foster because he liked his personality despite all the red flags from the combine, his shoulder, to the off field issues.

He has hit on Bosa and Aiyuk though.

Our scouts add Peters saved our later rounds. It's time to let them take over the entire draft process.

You have absolutely no proof that Mac Jones was Kyle's preference. People keep saying it like a parrot, but that doesn't make it true. Buckner claimed they didn't try to extend him contrary to what you stated. Picking Bosa was too easy of a choice. Aiyuk has been very good, but they could have traded up 3 picks and got Justin Jefferson (which is way better). I love when people think they know the inside of how the 49ers drafts work. You think Peters and company just come in day 3 and make the picks, and they aren't involved in the first two days?

Folks love to do it to fit into whatever narrative they agree with.

And just a crazy amount of wasted 3rd round selections that just aren't producing. Could've used those picks to fortify the depth. Especially with the o line, CB, and DE positions. Missing on these early round guys is definitely an issue. Sooner or later it will show up on the field. Hopefully they can get 6 before it does. And somebody should have been suspended for a day without pay for drafting a dam fg kicker in the 3rd.

I don't think you can blame the draft for depth issues. I don't think we have major depth issues either. Sure there are some spots that could be better but every team is like that.

You also have to consider we have transitioned from a team that lacked a lot of talent to a team that has a lot of talent and are now paying the star players huge contracts. When a team has 5+ players in the top 100 and all of them have big contracts, your depth will take a hit bc you just dont have money to pay some guys.

I think o line and CB are super thin. If either tackle or starting outside CB goes down and they are going to be hurting.

The results of the draft are the roster and the roster is measured by rankings.

There is no draft record failure, the point is moot.

Good enough to not lose to the Chiefs? Good enough to not lose to the Rams in the NFCCG?

No matter how good you are, you can always be better and since the 49ers as of yet don't have a Mahomes that can make up for a lot of shortcomings, they need to max out the value of their draft picks. Using a total of four 1st rounders and one third round pick on Kinlaw and Lance, getting zero back in production for those five picks is not maxing the value of those picks.

Had they gotten even gotten average return on those picks its likely that they have 6 SB trophies right now and a better overall roster.

Until we get the QB, probably won't matter.

I calculated we'd need Parsons and Pitts/Chase with Jimmy to be able to take down KC.......maybe.

It's f**king insane how much more talented our roster is than KC's and we still can't beat them because of one freaking guy.

I am thinking the same things with you that online and cb are thin. I am just concerned about it.

Gotta give Chris Jones his props as well. He totally wrecked our o line in that game. It wasn't just Mahomes

These craps often happen when a HC wants to be great FIRST, then WIN second.. Just like Billick back after his Super Bowl win.

Kyle worked out Mahomes personally and yet believe that he can work wonders w/CJ.. Mahomes made a 3rd and long great play against his D in the Super Bowl then Kyle fell in love with a One Year Wonder Trey because he was able to roll to his left and launched a 63 yard pass completion to a WR (w/o D) which led him to believe that this kid can be either Mahomes or Josh..

COMEDY..
The problem isnt necessarily missing on picks, its just making comically bad decisions.

NOT just that... it's believing too much of what he hears outside that line... believing that he's great even before accomplishing anything..

By the way, I'd like to know what those people (Shannon, Sims, etc etc) and how Lance will be great by year 3 or so..
