What are we going to do with the 41 million (!?) we have in cap space?

This too.

Trade for Brian Burns

Can't afford Burns long term, along with Bosa, and Aiyuk, just not feasible. Plus he's upset, he wants a long term deal, likely in Bosa's area, but he ain't Bosa IMO, not as good, he's good, but not that good.

Besides, they did this IMO to front load Bosa's 2023 cap number, so we have a low 2024 cap hit, like $12M, we'll still have around $13M in cap room for this season, $8M carryover is my projection for 2023 to 2024.

Yep. I saw some news on the Panther's side, discussing a possible trade. They are saying he is wanting an extension around 27-28 million a season, but the Panthers aren't willing to go above 23-24.

There's just no way the 9ers could afford two multi year contracts at both DE positions like Bosa's. Ferrell or Drake Jackson is gonna have to step up.

No, can't afford two Bosa like deals, I should have mentioned we'd lose someone else like a Greenlaw, Ward, Armstead, plus Aiyuk if we brought Burns in long term.

No, that's why I posted those numbers. Besides having to lose another key player (or probably two), I just don't think Burns has done enough to be worth 27-28 million.

Agreed, I said earlier that Burns just isn't as good as Bosa, not worth the money, would be nice if there was no salary cap, but nah, we'll be just fine, if anything a mid-season trade happens, ala CMC.

Totally agree, I took a look at Williams and Kittles new contract (I'm assuming OTC has somewhat the correct 💲💲💲) and assuming Trent retires next year (or the year after) and Kittle retires in 3 years, the 49ers are pretty good against the dead money, and pretty good in terms of gaining cap space if either one's career is cut short for some odd reason. If it is true that they are frontloading Bosa's contract, that's pretty bold, but I like that move.

Screw next season the time is NOW!!!

I'm kinda with you here... we need to add some depth this season.

I was being stupid but I'm not. I'm tired of hearing next season next season lets go all in and win this s**t already!!! Bosa is locked and loaded, they brought in Hargrave, Trent Williams is near retirement, we got pretty much everything aligned the time is now!!!

That's the tension between GM and HC. Long term vs short term. The 49ers, so far, under Paraag, have kept that good balance between the two. You want to win NOW but still have the ammo to sustain a long campaign if this year is just simply not your year. If you blow all your ammo for this year, next year is going to be a problem - specially if you don't win it all. Even if you do win it all, now you have no ammo for sustaining a long campaign year after year. The opposit is bad too, where you don't even try the shot THIS year and save everything for next year - then in the short term, it will never be your year. It's a tough balancing act, and so far ShanaLYnch has been able to thread the needle. The one big gamble they took with Trey Lance could have torpedoed their plans, but Brock saved their cajones.

Thats a huge overpay, as good as he is. Thats like the Watts contract from just 2 years ago and granted it was two years ago but Burns isn't in that league. A team would be foolish to pay it, short of the most unique, perfect circumstance.
Tag aiyuk whose our true #1
1) Brian Burns (not happening but obviously top on my wish list)
2) Chase Young
3) midseason trade for a starting CB wit a team who is out of contention

I heard that if they had re-signed Bosa a day earlier they wouldn't have had to restructure Trent and Kittle. I think they were over the cap and the deadline to be under the cap was sometime Tuesday and they extended Bosa on Wednesday.
Saving it for the trade deadline before the playoffs. Our DBs still suck IMO.Kicker will cost us some games if we're rolling with Moody. Oline is suspect as well. Other than that, this team is pretty stacked AS OF NOW. Who knows WTF will happen.

OL wont be tradeable no one has good OL depth in entire NFL and no one is trading a starting OL

I hate the salary cap.
Saving it for Aaron Donald at the trade deadline once the Rams realize they are going nowhere fast. Pipe dream but could you imagine Bosa, Hargrave, AA & Donald?! Sheesh

The way the team looks at this moment, they could just give us the trophy now. We have yet to see how this O line performs though, and an injury to any of the core players could be a serious setback, so if there's going to be a mid season trade, it would probably be due to an injury or an O lineman underperforming.
