What are we going to do with the 41 million (!?) we have in cap space?

well the goal is to get better

He might not be wrong.

I can't see them going dline. We have most of our cap against the d line already. Don't get me wrong, having another game wrecker opposite bosa masks a ton of other issues, but I doubt that do that.

More likely this space probably lets them keep their players as others have said. I mean if I'm Huff and Aiyuk I'm already getting positive vibes knowing they will probably make a very strong offer financially while keeping it obvious that they are trying to keep the guys together etc.
Our "weak link" has been mostly the QB position. If the QBs don't look like they are the guys, keeping the same team together wouldn't help us. Kirk or another QB would need to be added

welp, now you have done it

I think its a pretty long shot, and several conditions would have to be satisfied, ie

1. Brock is out for 4+ games and possibly a question mark for the playoffs
2. Sam is playing like Sam
3. Vikings get eliminated from the contention early

#3 will be the toughest to satisfy because NFC is very top-heavy but overall pretty meh and Vikings are a solid team

But if somehow Vikings are down, I can see a rental of Cousins trade. The reason I don't like such a move is that besides it likely costing more than compensatory picks in terms of draft capital,I just don't want to give Kyle any more Cousins ideas.

Bring JJ Watt out of retirement

Why? So he can play one game before he's hurt, then sit back and collect a check while he's contributing less than zero to help the team. Siphoning off cash, that could have been used for a player who actually has a chance to play at least 3 games in a row.

They can roll it to next year to sign Yuk or bring in a top RT if things don't work out this year.
Give it to the poor.

1) Brian Burns (not happening but obviously top on my wish list)
2) Chase Young
3) midseason trade for a starting CB wit a team who is out of contention

The way the team looks at this moment, they could just give us the trophy now. We have yet to see how this O line performs though, and an injury to any of the core players could be a serious setback, so if there's going to be a mid season trade, it would probably be due to an injury or an O lineman underperforming.

Just look at last night's game. The Chiefs were missing Kelce on offense and Jones on defense. Their biggest weapons. It's why I hate the cap. You can't build a lot of depth because players that are good enough aren't going to sit around and be backups and not get paid. They move on and are replaced by lesser players of draft picks.
Every team is subject to drop from the top to not making the playoffs with a couple of key injuries.

In gthe Niner's case what would happen if Brock gets hurt after a few games and CMC goes down for the season Maybe Williams gets hurt and the O line is vulnerable. On defense what would happen to the pass rush is Bosa gets hurt. Maybe Warner goes down for a few games. The entire season could change if any of these players gets hurt. The NFL is as much about health as it is about quality and coaching.

That's called parity

I call it stupidity. I say that because they are the only league that doesn't have a developmental league of some type. Don't say college because they can't send players back to college for more seasoning. If they could they would still have Lance. The practice squad leaves players vulnerable to being taken by another team. The billionaires seem to care more about making money than they do about developing players.

NFL owners will always put their profits over everything else. This isn't something new lol
I think if no big injuries happen they will hold on to it to help cap next year, or they will try to upgrade our oline if somehow mckivitz sucks.
Have free hot dog day at the stadium.
I hope we trade for Marshon Lattimore. He would be a very good get for our defense before the deadline and unfortunately Lenoir will probably have to be the full time nickel.

the saints are the best team in a terrible division they will not be out of the playoff picture by the trade deadline so I don't see any world where they trade him
The NIners have about $42 million in cap space which is the most in the NFL to start the season. They did this by restructuring a lot of contracts. This puts even more pressure on them to win the SB in the next couple of years because eventually they have to pay these guys.

The Niners did this in 1994 and were able to win a SB but Carmen Policy said that the team ended up in cap hell. So it's win soon before players need to get paid or strt leaving. Williams isn't likely to play much longer. Kittle may also be done in a couple years because of his injuries.

The players have already been paid, it's just cap manipulation

The players haven't been paid yet. The keep pushing those salaries back. Eventually they will get paid and that's when they can run into cap issues. Paraag seems pretty good at moving salaries around but it can't go on forever.

Yup, I was thinking of the dead cap has already been paid

the way they can run into issues if the restructure goes past his contract/time here?
