What are we going to do with the 41 million (!?) we have in cap space?

He's a good player, there's no question about it, but he has to push past being essentially the 4th option in the offense. Not sure our offense is set for that to happen.

He's the only WR we have right now that can beat #1 corners down the field on a regular basis. I love Deebo and he is the most dangerous player in the league with the ball in his hands but he's not a guy I trust to go up against the best corners in the league and beat them 15+ yards down the field. If they were ever to trade Aiyuk they need to get a 1st RD pick and trade up further to get one of the best WR's in the class.

The NIners have about $45 million in cap space which is the most in the NFL to start the season. They did this by restructuring a lot of contracts. This puts even more pressure on them to win the SB in the next couple of years because eventually they have to pay these guys.

The Niners did this in 1994 and were able to win a SB but Carmen Policy said that the team ended up in cap hell. So it's win soon before players need to get paid or strt leaving. Williams isn't likely to play much longer. Kittle may also be done in a couple years because of his injuries.
The players have already been paid, it's just cap manipulation

The players haven't been paid yet. The keep pushing those salaries back. Eventually they will get paid and that's when they can run into cap issues. Paraag seems pretty good at moving salaries around but it can't go on forever.
Yup, I was thinking of the dead cap has already been paid

the way they can run into issues if the restructure goes past his contract/time here?

This is all true. I literally had this conversation with a friend but he said something that made me say oh....

Me: you can't keep kicking the can down the road

friend: why not? the road never ends, especially if you manage it correctly.

He's right. It's not like the nfl goes bankrupt tomorrow lol
Of course there will be dead money over the years, but if you manage that properly year after year you should avoid cap hell. So far we draft well enough and have showed proper free agent discipline that imo this seems possible for them.
biggest impact obviously would be a monster RT, C, Edge or CB.

I think if I could just drop a player on the roster it would probably be another good CB.

Yup exactly!!!!

Everyone wants to trade for Burns, but no way that happens. I'm thinking more along the lines of CJ Henderson.

an monster OLine would make Purdy with all those weapons unstoppable.
Imagine Kittle roaming free without blocking dutys because oLine sucks.

I think our OL is going to be good personally. It has been good. Get a QB in there with pocket awareness and a fast processor and we're good to go.

I also mentally block out the idea of adding an OL via trade because I do think it's incredibly unrealistic (teams don't trade them).

I do go back and forth between adding another pass rusher instead of a CB though. One thing helps the other so either would be awesome.

Henderson sucks only cb worth a damn on that team is Horn.
That's $41.5M in cap space right now. #1 in the NFL.

Only way I'm trading Aiyuk is if it guarantees us Marvin Harrison jr and I highly doubt that.
Welp. Bosa contract details are out and his 2023 cap hit is actually lower than the 5th-year option salary. So for everyone (including me) who thought the restructures were to make room for front-loading Bosa's extension, that clearly isn't it.

Another good CB and I'd be happy.

Maybe a CB from the Texans where DeMeco is the coach and there could be similarities with the 49ers' defense. That way, the CB can come in and quickly get on board with the 49ers' scheme, assuming Wilks doesn't change a lot of things. Steven Nelson is a vet CB with an expiring contract that could come in and provide stability if things need to be moved around (Lenoir to slot, Ambry not playing well, etc).

No way. Niners suck at making first round selections. You trade Aiyuk you can only pray the person they select with the pick they acquire ends up being nearly as good as him.
