i dunno, I just think society in general is trending more and more to being more uncivilized, unruly, and disrespectful toward others... hell, fans beat to death someone in the stands from the last New England game

I'm curious how fights breakout between fans of the same team. Luckily I've never been up close to see that happen.
"Quarterback A should be starting!"
"No way, it should be Quarterback B"
fight!
Nothing is different about the fanbase currently then compared in the past. I am not really sure what the OP is talking about.

top reasons:
49er fans bringing a friend that is rooting for the visiting team
Fans not sitting down when they should
fans just being to beligerent when kids are around
women just don't like other women

I don't see that when I am at Levi's but I do notice an influx of younger fans and probably due to their parents or our recent success that probably dates back to the years of Harbs and they remember those days. Yes, those days have been awhile now and I am getting old.

The new fans are nothing new and I don't think we travel great as fans. We never traveled great before and now?

I think most of the fans you see at away games are 9er fans outside of California. We use to be a California fan based team but not anymore. We are up their with Steelers, Cowboys, Packers and Broncos as fans that are all over the country.

The same reason people get into fights at clubs, concerts, etc: alcohol. I guarantee the overwhelming majority of fights at football games are between drunk people, and fights are entirely unrelated to football. I remember being a kid at Candlestick and seeing so many fights between drunk Mexican gang bangers from the Mission and rednecks from Redding.

you don't see what ? Those are the main reasons.

not sure what our past or 9er fans that travel have to do with it. but, you will be surprised on how many California tailgate parties happen at away games.

Like others said, we are no different than any other stadium/Teams with these problems
A Dolphins fan just killed an Patriots fan this past sunday
They were complaining in the 80s and 90s. Every year - even when we were winning.
You could say this about any fan base , society contains a certain percentage of complete morons

It's not just that, but with film availability an quality beat writers, our fans still struggle with knowledge of the game past fantasy football and ESPN talking heads.

I'm curious to know if its me or are the talking heads now partially responsible for lowering the sports IQ of fans? I can't even watch these shows, whereas as a kid and through college I loved them.

I've been seeing this for a few years now, our fan's level of knowledge of the game and impulse control is at an all time low. We have people that are constantly talking about firing everyone or trading our best players away after a win. In addition to that, it seems like once a week TMZ is doing a story about our fans not only fighting, but fighting each other! Today a story appeared in my news feed about a woman who was slung down the steps in the stands by her hair (by another Niner fan). Seriously, I've been a fan for over three decades and I can't remember it ever being this bad.

What do you think it is? Can it be fixed?

I blame that TMZ way of thinking (at least partially)on Grant Cohn. That is the way he reports (if you want to call it that), with very little that's constructive and basically nothing more than hot takes.

There is no ramification or consequences from these reporters and I don't even call them journalists. These people just give hot takes and just report what they want to report. Sadly, social media and giving everyone a platform to post their thoughts has caused this.

Why is it that the only innovation from a mobile phone today is the camera? LOL
