Not sold yet on Lynch, Kyle Shanahan is an absolute gem. I like the move by York in a time they are being scrutinized about the Trey Lance debacle he gave them reassurance.

yea that's a good move. But he also needs to make them accountable for various things going on that need "correction". How can he do that under the table? And he can't do that himself either, cause he's a know-nothing owner. Doesn't have the credentials to tell foot ball ops people what to do and how to do it. What a dilemma. Who can Jed get under the radar to make sure we don't do dumb ass things like the trey lance disaster again, and draft offensive tackles instead of kickers and running backs in the third round? Who would be the right person to keep the professional development moving in the right direction? Who has the clout, the pedigree, the authority, the acceptance to nudge the ship in the "right" direction?

It shows that Jed is smart enough to look at the big picture ( overall results on the field) instead of one mistake (Trey Lance) Teams that have owners that over react and fly off the handle are the ones that are always looking for and never finding the answer. Stable ownership and continuity at GM and HC are all part of the winning formula.

No thanks. They've earned the right to make their own corrections. No micromanagement needed here.

mistakes need to be corrected though. And it's not just trey lance. we want smart people to come work for us, not run the other way. We want better choices at OL. etc etc.

its easy to say this when we're 3-0 and rolling. Lets see what were saying when Purdy get's knocked out for 4 weeks cuz burford got steamrrolled.

And um if there are no corrections made then, yah, get ready for a doubledecker micromanagement burger.

Yup, and I'll just add that Papa Shanahan has a video link to every practice, player and coach meeting, and is in contact with the highest levels at the front office (John Lynch) who he helped get hired by Kyle. Papa also helped his son hire Griese as QB coach which resulted in the Brock Purdy pick. I really do believe he is the hidden power behind the throne - so to speak.

I think Jed leaning on Papa Shanahan, who he knew as a young kid back in 1994 is a tremendous asset to him and to ShanaLynch.

Well, back in 2021, after the Trey Lance draft, and McDaniel leaving - Mike basically took the entire Kyle offensive staff to Miami (in a sense) and whoever was left was let go except for Foerster. Bobby Turner was also out for year 2022 and has just recently come back this year. (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). So basically, all Kyle had for his offensive coaching staff was Foerster at the beginning of 2022. Kyle had no QB coach.

Papa Shanahan talks to Griese and somehow hooked Griese and Kyle together and gets hired by Kyle as his QB coach. Griese was Papa Shanahan's QB for (I think several years in Denver). Brian took over Papa Shanahan's offense after Elway retired. Once Greise was hired, he saw Purdy from Slowick's scouting tapes and fell in love and pounded the table (along with Slowick) to draft Purdy. The rest is history.
My thoughts? All through high school and early years of adulthood I had to endure the Nolan/Singietary years. Then Harbaugh came, gave me a taste of excitement and success. Then he left and it felt like the dark years all over again, which they were. Then we got Shanny and Lynch and gave them time to cook. The extension should have been for a lifetime is my only complaint.

Glad both got extended.

Shanahan is the reason this team scores 30 points a game, regardless of who is at center.
Lynch is the reason this team continues to have good defenses year after year.

"One mistake"

Let's just take a look at Lynch/Shanahan's mistakes vs hits

Mistakes:

Solomon Thomas at 3 in 2017
I'd say Foster but Saban lied to the 49ers brass, and no one expected him to be a headache
Trey Lance trade
Kinlaw pick/DeFo trade
Malcolm Smith signing (nitpicking here)
Witherspoon pick (nitpicking here)
Sermon Pick
Joe Williams pick

Hits:

Good Picks:

Bosa
Deebo
Kittle
Warner
Aiyuk
Hufanga
Dre
Lenoir
Bell (Looks like a steal)
Moody (Looks like a great pick)
Wishnowsky (Good pick whether ppl agree or not with me)
Banks
Burford
DJ Jones (Hated losing him, but we have Hargrave now, we upgraded over DJ & DeFo)
Purdy

Others:

Trent trade
CMC trade
Ward signing
Hargrave signing
Juice signing

Letting Laken walk
Letting McGlinchey walk

Those are off the top of my head, I'm sure there's more mistakes I'm forgetting, but more hits than misses.

Oh really? That's very interesting. I didn't have any background on it. Thanks.

Whooooa this is missing pettis hurd tdp another 3rd rd whiff.

As far as "hits" theres a few where it's just too early to tell to put them on the list yet. You can see who they are I don't have to call them all out.

As far as signing goes your memories pretty short. Don't forget about D Ford and McKinney. And Quan Alexander
