Now you see why I brought it up AB.

I think they'd of brought in darnold and/or made a trade for cousins. I don't think they'd of rolled into this year with Lance at the helm, at least not without giving him a ton of competition.

We probably wouldn't know how good Brock is if he went somewhere else. I'm just glad we have him. He really has saved our behinds so far from a colossally bad situation.

i also don't think we would of kept jimmy, I think that relationship is/was toast.

Mightve looked at Cousins too for sure.

Pats paid Bledsoe a kings ransom too before they knew what they had in Brady. Sometimes it's the things you least expect thst work out the best. Rams and Trent Green as well.

Bill Walsh didn't want to draft Joe. He wanted Phil Simms IIRC.
Dallas wanted Paxton Lynch and had "to settle" for Dak Prescott.
Sean Payton wanted Tony Romo but he didn't want to give Dallas a second rounder.
Finally he took Drew Brees because Miami was affraid of Brees's shoulder.
There's a lot of stories like that.

I thought Walsh was working out Steve Fuller, but he didn't impress. First time I've heard about Sims.

I can't remember where I heard it but Walsh wanting Simms was definitely a thing. I don't think Bill didn't want Montana, I haven't heard that. Just that he wanted Simms more.

it was NOT Simms... he gave him a high grade but Walsh wanted STEVE DILS... our then scout Tony Razzano swore that Walsh wanted Dils and also stated that he will take it to his grave that he was the one who pushed for some guy name JOE ..
Don't remember what I posted but sorry

I don't even know why this is news. I'm all for the extension but I can't even recall the last time a coach made it through his contract and was let go because their contract expired. Coaches either get fired or they retire.
Kyle and John work well together. That can't ne overlooked in an era where people have trouble respecting each other. Kyle is obviously the offensive mind but he's smart enough to realize tht a strong defense makes his job as OC even easier. He doesn't hesitate to take a defensive player instead of a shiny offensive toy if he thinks that the defensive guy is going to help them. He relies on John for lot of that evaluation.

A lot of coaches get too enamored with an offensive player and overlook a defensive player that may be a bigger help. Why? Because offense is sexier. It gets the headlines. Meanwhile defense is winning the championshis. It's no coincidence that nearly every team that wins the SB has a top 5 defense. All the great Niner teams had a defense that was often overlooked with Montana, Rice, Craig and Taylor putting uo points. The Patriots won mostly because of their defense, not because of Brady doing amazing things. The great Steelers teams had the Steel Curtain. Dallas had grerat defenses.

Offense is importsnt but not at the expense of the defense. Kyle is smart enough to know that he's better off when his defense is great. I know it sounds obvious but way toomany coches ignore the defense . They eventually get fired.
Good news. Does not necessarily mean that Adam Peters goes if the Niners win the Super Bowl this year, Lynch gets elevated to another position like Team President and Peters takes over as the GM. I'm hoping this vote of confidence for both coach and GM leads to the ultimate prize for the franchise and the fans.

The alternatives don't bear thinking about. It's great that they are sticking around.
I like it, They are certainly not without their flaws, but it makes sense to keep going. Our franchise is golden compared to most others.

Yeah, I can't imagine anyone else as HC with this group of players, imagine not keeping Kyle, Trent would retire right away, he loves the Shanahan offense. As for John, he's grown as a GM, the duo is such a great duo, yeah they've made mistakes, but what regime hasn't in the NFL.

Agreed, not perfect by any means, but they've grown, and gotten better & better each year, takes time. I'm happy to have both signed long term, and thankfully their salaries, whatever they are lol.
Wonder how this changes if John wins a Super Bowl since he was flirting with going back to TV last year I think. They work well together, just need to be better identifying first round talent. Solomon Thomas, and trey we're both super early picks that we're trash

I am curious to, you need to do a spreadsheet on how much the York's have spent on coaching staffs since they took over. It's probably eye opening.
