Last years playoff game is on NFL network now. Brock is much better now and Kyle was very conservative in the 4th quarter with his rookie QB.

Other things that stood out : Goulds easy fgs, Lenoir giving up over 100yrds to Lamb, Ebukam being relentless opposite Bosa, CMC hurt with his calf, but most glaring is Dak looked bad in the 4th. Bad passes and near picks.

45% pressure rate. We struggled to run too IIRC...which lead to the pressure rate (more predictable). Is that right?

AAs crappy tackle at the end missed an easy safety. Dre dropped an int and Eli should have kneeled. All these errors that helped the Cowboys sustain this game. I'm hoping we have a better killer instinct.

Dak should have thrown 5-6 INT's in that game. Our defense only capitalized on the first two opportunities.

We dropped like 3 Dobbs picks last game too, relatively easy ones too.

Warner has dropped like 3 or 4 this year alone already. He needs to hold onto those gimmes. We will need to capitalize on them this game, turnovers will be critical to the overall outcome of this game.

Dallas is going to challenge the middle of the Niner run D with the best pair of run-blocking Guards (Tyler Smith #1 and Zach Martin #4) in the league, and a Center that is roughly the equivalent of Brendel when he was playing well last season. Hargrave, AA, and Kinlaw will be tested big time. They should hold up but it will be a 60-minute battle worth watching.

Likewise, on defense, Dallas brings the best pair of pass-rushing EDs in the league, Lawrence and Parsons. Hankins is enough of a load inside to keep double-teams off the EDs. Banks, Burford, and Brendel will have their hands full protecting their own turf to help outside. None of those three are above "replacement" grade when it comes to pass blocking. McKivitz will need help from TEs which will take away one potential quick outlet pass for Purdy.

In the end, Dallas has an edge in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Kyle and Wilks will have to use scheme to counter.

100% agree with this. I'll add one extra point here is the Cowboys lost Trevon Diggs which forces more onto the rest of the cowboys secondary because he was a guy they could man upon one side and not have to worry as much about it.

We know Purdy is going to feel some heat in this one. If Purdy can continue his mistake free football that will be a great sign. If there's something like a sack fumble then maybe it's Dallas' night. We're going to see if Mcaffery can get going in the run because it's going to be tough.

this matchup is a lot more even than I think this forum is suggesting.

They had those "advantages" the last 2 years as well. The Dallas OL has been elite for a while. Strange they haven't done much....almost as if the QB is more important....

LOL. Dallas' OL hasn't been elite in ages. And the greatest OL in history can't do anything for Dak's psyche in big games. It's 'almost' like you need both.
Ok. I thought OL is so important that everything else doesn't matter. Whichever team that have the best OL wins the Superbowl no matter what I guess is just a myth.

LOL. You sound like All, Hoov and 9ers4eva. Haha.

No, the Superbowl winners had BOTH the QB + OL playing at elite levels (and won the Superbowl).

You need both.

Capiche?

Detroit is 1 of 2 teams in the tier 1 OL. Do you think they'll win a Superbowl with Goff?

You need both.

If you are the Niner GM, would you trade Bosa, CMC, Warner, and Aiyuk for 4 star linemen? Do you think that would give us a better chance to win the Superbowl?

If I was the GM, I had 7 years to upgrade the OL while keeping all those guys as well.

If those guys don't matter (because their positions don't matter) then why bother keeping those guy?

Yeah, let's hope. Gotta be realistic though, there's going to be dings and dents during a football game.

Look, I'm always this way. I expect the Cowboys to win because (a) it hurts less if they do, and (b) I see the film and see how great that defense is, even with the loss to the Cardinals. But I'll say this: if we beat them, there is NO question that we are the best team in the NFL, and only injuries and strange flukes will prevent us from winning the Super Bowl.

We need to run the ball, and we need to trust that Brock will continue to make the right decisions, and that Dak will revert when he faces a great defense.

How can you tell if they have a good defense? They haven't played anyone worth a damn. They've beat the Jets, giants and patriots, and lost to a team we beat by 19. I don't think they suck, but they have definite weakness at linebacker and safety. Our defense is definitely a cut above them personnel wise. There's no reason to be anything but cautiously optimistic. I wouldn't be surprised if we lead it wire to wire barring sloppy turnovers.

No. The Dallas pass rush is better this year and our pass protection is worse. Say what you want about McGlinchey, but he was better than McKivits. Our hopes lie on Brock and Kyle compensating for the advantage the Cowboys have.

The same way I knew the 49ers in 2011 had a good defense when they beat the Bucs 48-3. This is the NFL. I don't care how "bad" a team is. 40-0, 30-10 and 38-3 in a span of four games is not an accident.

As far as personnel. First of all, their corners are better than ours. Second, their defensive line as a whole is better than ours at pass rush. It takes a monumental effort of homerism to not recognize that. Parsons is better than ANYONE on our defense, period. He's first in every conceivable pass rushing category. Our linebackers as a whole are better, as are our safeties. But pass rush is more important and they win on that. Moreover, their offensive line is better than ours. So not only do we face the more difficult pass rush, we face it with a less talented offensive line. Outside of Trent the entire thing is "meh" to bad when it comes to pass protection.

This game is going to be a monster. We only win if Brock plays like the QB we all proclaim him to be. We need an MVP calibur performance to win, either from Brock, CMC, or Brandon.
