RIP on of my favorite tight ends. He and Montana had great chemistry.
Sad. Important contributor to early Walsh success.
RIP. Great player that was part of the offense when it elevated to an elite level. Also being a wrestling fan I was proud as a kid that he outlasted all the other football players in the battle royal in Wrestlemania 2.

RIP
Russ was always a free spirit that wanted to try everything in life. For him to die in a plane crash is almost karma. Better than a long painful death like Dwight Clark endured.
RIP big fella, you were elite in your day and it was a pleasure to watch you play in red and gold

I thought the same thing. As for Clark, when he died, I was actually relieved because selfishly I didn't want to see the ALS take the full effect. My last memory of him is the A Football Life and I admired how he was so upfront, honest, and head on about everything.
Very sad to hear, hope and prayers to his family.
