Apparently a (not so) fun fact

KS against Jim Schwartz is 0-8 and has not scored more than 20 points

Did he have a roster like this one?

The last time they faced each other was the 2021 Thursday night game at Tennessee. Rolled up good yardage but two Jimmy-Picks did us in.

not very concerned just thought it was intresting

scheme wise they have the same scheme as dallas so game planning wise its very similar they have better CBs though. And by similar scheme i mean they like to play man heavy and let pass rush get to QB

Who are these idiots picking the 49ers to score less than 30 points? When they haven't all season? Or giving up three TD's? When, again, they haven't all season? Do these clowns even watch football games?

I'm ok with them not doing it, I wouldn't see it as an insult.

The games are not played in a vacuum, and the Browns do have a decent defense.

It's unlikely the Niners will score 30+ for every game this season, nor win every single game either.

Damn I feel bad for ol Bernie. When he first started talking I thought he was drunk, but when he talked about the seizures he's had and comas he's been in I understood. That dude's body has taken punishment on a level I'll never understand. Good interview.

Holy s*** that's insane, and a little scary, haha.

Let's track Kyle since 2008 (first year as OC):

2008-2009: Texans
2010-2013: Redskins
2014: Browns
2015-2016: Falcons
2017-Present: Niners

Let's track Schwartz (as DC):

2008: Titans
2009-2013 (as head coach): Lions
2014 : Bills
2016-2020: Eagles
2021-2022: Titans (Senior defensive assistant)
2023: Browns

2008 Texans vs. Titans: Texans scored 12 and 13 points in two outings, one a blowout loss and one win 13-12
2010-2013: Redskins vs Lions....Lions beat Redskins twice 37-25 in 2010, and 27-20 in 2013
2014: Browns vs Bills (Bills won 26-10)
2016: Falcons vs. Eagles (Eagles won 24-15)
2017-2020: 49ers vs. Eagles (Niners sucked in 2017, heavily injured in 2020 in the game they played with Mullens and that weird pick)
2021: Titans 20, 49ers 17 (does this game count if he's not DC?)

Many of these games above, Kyle's team wasn't special. I wouldn't hold any of those Texans games against Kyle. 2010 Redskins had Rex Grossman, John Beck scrubs. 2013 Redskins had RG3 coming off the injury who wasn't all that great that season (I was there when the Niners smashed them at FedEx). 2014 Browns Kyle did a good job of, but the Bills were likely better.

I look at the above and the only game that stands out right away is the 2016 Falcons vs Eagles, since that was the Super Bowl year for the Falcons. That game was played November 13th, week 10, in Philly. After that game, the Falcons only lost one more game (29-28) the rest of the way to Alex Smith KC Chiefs at home, where the offensive onslaught surged with point totals of 38, 42, 41, 33, 38 , before postseason of 36, 44, and 28 points in a little over 3Q in the Super Bowl.

So it's safe to say Schwartz has only really faced off Kyle head on one time where the two teams were on equal footing or maybe Kyle's was better. That 15 points were the lowest scored the entire season by the Falcons (they managed 24 point in Seattle, when playing up there was still a thing).

But it's good stuff to note, and if for some reason the Browns limit the Niners this weekend, it will be good film for Kyle to review and others to attempt to copy. However, as good as Schwartz could be, we've all seen a defense wilt when the offense cannot put up a damn drive (see week 2, 2013, 49ers at Seahawks)....

Good stuff. It might be why Kyle adopted the Wide9 front that Schwartz has used. Maybe Kyle saw that type of front gives him fits so he wanted to use it himself.

Thanks.

Do you know if Schwartz still uses it?

You gotta admit, he's one of the more underrated DCs the past decade.
