49ERS at BROWNS Pregame Thread - 2023 Season Week 6

BTW, forgot to mention...

The 2021 49ers vs Eagles I remember was a defensive slugfest for awhile. Jonathan Gannon was their DC then up until this past Super Bowl....

Was Gannon's system a continuation of Schwartz' , because it took awhile to get going in that 2021 game with Jimmy.

Who are these idiots picking the 49ers to score less than 30 points? When they haven't all season? Or giving up three TD's? When, again, they haven't all season? Do these clowns even watch football games?

I'm ok with them not doing it, I wouldn't see it as an insult.

The games are not played in a vacuum, and the Browns do have a decent defense.

It's unlikely the Niners will score 30+ for every game this season, nor win every single game either.

Sacrilege!

But, sadly, I do agree with you. I just hope Purdy's first loss doesn't come at the hands of the hated SeaHags. I want that man trouncing Petey at every opportunity.

Bill, for me I think it's possible but only if the weather is going to be as bad as some have said. Supposed to be really nasty.

i can't remember who said it but I think it was on good morning but there was a take that the niners don't travel well as a team. That or style offense doesn't travel and only works in perfect weather. That we can't hang with Philly or Buffalo or those types of teams in December and February bc of the weather. Has anyone heard this? Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't a great D and great run game typically do well in those games?

i think it's funny that last week it was the vaunted Dallas Defense best in the league let's see how the Niners do. That's over they were spanked. Now it's the same thing with Brown's D. Both are good we just simply have a ton of weapons.

i predicted a ten point win over Dallas so i was certainly pleased with the outcome.

going to say, decent weather 32-14 but if it's really nasty 24-10

Good stuff. It might be why Kyle adopted the Wide9 front that Schwartz has used. Maybe Kyle saw that type of front gives him fits so he wanted to use it himself.

Thanks.

Do you know if Schwartz still uses it?

You gotta admit, he's one of the more underrated DCs the past decade.

Schwartz is a wide9 guy so I'm almost positive that he still uses it. He strongly believes in it. Kris Kocurek was DL coach for Schwartz in DET.
on the 30+ debate, have you checked, the forecast?

That I don't know. Whether Gannon continued to use the wide9 front (as a base front) once he took over for Schwartz as PHI's DC. My guess is yes since they had a good thing going. I'm just talking about the actual four man front alignment. Not referring to coverages.
Scwhartz is the DC, he still around? LOL

how can anyone forget the Harbaugh slap on the back and then the ensuing almost throw down where Anthony Davis was ready to gang bang

I'd hate for the RAIN to be B-ROCK STEADY's Kryptonite !!!

0% rain during game

If we discover that he f**ked up yet again and theres another sexual assault allegation, it would be less surprising than Steve Keim catching another DUI.

This also depends kn the Browns offense. If Watson isn't playing, their offense may struggle to maintain drives - as good as their defense is, if they are on the field all game they'll struggle not to give up 30.

It looks like it'll be showery at most Sunday afternoon. I don't think weather will be a significant factor.

Purdy did just fine on a rain-soaked field in the playoffs last January you may recall. The 49ers ripped the Seahags. The forecast called for heavy rain during that game. The heavy rain stayed away, other than a few light showers, but the field was still soaked from previous storms leading up to the game. Brock was just fine.

He did go back to Texas for PT during the bye week. Who knows? Old habits die hard.
