This is a tough one, Idk if I can rank the top 15 players, all I know is I have the following as top 15 players on the roster, just not sure how to rank them.

Purdy
CMC
Juice
Deebo
BA
Kittle
Trent
Banks
Bosa
AA
Hargrave
Fred
Dre
Ward
Hufanga

It's a fun problem to have... Because you can look at things from the perspective of either "how good is this player individually?" vs "how important is this player within our scheme?" The thought exercise is particularly interesting because it is something our front office has to go think about when they have to weigh the roster vs. the salary cap.

I think you can evaluate players based on how they fare compared to the rest of the league. Trent Williams, Fred Warner, Juice, are easily #1 at their respective positions. Bosa, CMC, Kittle are each top 3 for theirs. All the other players in that list are at least top 10 or top 15.

But even still, looking at it that way isn't foolproof. If you removed, say, George Kittle, from our offense, we'd still be an elite offense. But Kittle's versatility as a run-blocker, route runner, potential ball carrier, and ability to help out in the pass game... that just opens things up and allows other people to shine.

There's a ton of synergy on the offensive and defensive units. Every guy just helps the other guys shine.

Yes it is a fun problem to have, thankfully we can keep the gang together, yes we'll lose a Mitchell, Burks, McCloud, Jauan, Lenoir over the next 2 offseasons, but drafting well will go a long way.

Yeah I agree with Trent, Juice & Warner as top at their position, then the same with CMC, Bosa, Kittle top 3, rest being top 10-15, this roster is loaded, and we just added Gregory for little($840K) this season, and they may not be done, they could look to get a CB, if Surtain becomes available, we need to get him.

I could be mistaken, but I thought you had Lenoir figured into our longterm plans. Has something changed or do I have it wrong? All of the others, I figured were gone, along with some people you didn't have on the list (Greenlaw). I think Lenoir is better than he's given credit for, but are you sensing a HUGE deal for him in free agency? If that's the case, yes we'll definitely have to not only draft, but develop some more talent on the outside. Hoping we invest two picks at CB, day 2 and 3. Next year, I'm anticipating a group of Ward (who needs to be extended), Lenoir, Oliver, Womack, Luter, and our day 2 rookie, It leaves the day 3 player and Ambry Thomas as the odd men out. I figure whoever is the winner of that battle is on the practice squad.

I'm shocked that you are on the Surtain train. Not that he isn't an amazing player, but I figure you are aware, more so than anywhere here of the cost. Of course if Denver isn't asking for a 1st outright (CMC type of trade), you jump all over that. But I can't forsee that happening.

No, I had Lenoir most likely not being re-signed, I originally had him as part of the long term plans, but that would mean we'd lose someone like a Dre Greenlaw, who I expect to be extended in 2024, same with Mooney Ward. As for Surtain, I'm all for it, but not going all in like multiple 1's, I would rather it be a package of picks like CMC, as for Surtain's cost, I like that he's cheap for 2023 & 2024, then 2025 he'd need to be extended, but I get the sense that DEN won't be trading him.

Agreed, that multiple ones business is for somebody else…not us. We have seen the multiple 1s up close and personal, and i would wager there isn't a 9er fan within miles who would get excited about trading 3 1s for anybody, under any cirucumstances.

What is utterly amazing is, how that trade that should have "half kilt" us, went down, couple yrs go by, and still , we have the best talent in the league, even with our 3 ones fiasco. How many other teams could have done that and still ended up with best talent in the league?

If that isn't an incredible happenstance, then nothing is. You gotta hand it to KS and JL plus our entire scouting team, as being other worldly.

Would JL and KS ever consider a 3 firsts again? Nah….they "learnt" already. Once burnt, twice shy.

Trading for Surtain is different from trading for Lance though. Any rookie player that you trade for presents tremendous risk because you don't know what they can do at the NFL level. Meanwhile, Patrick Surtain II is known. There's risk with any trade, but there's a lot more information on what he can do at the NFL level, and he's proven to be an ALL-PRO at the NFL level. Adding him to our defense would really be stacking the deck. I'd immediately have no fear of any offense if we were fully healthy and had him & Charvarious Ward as our top two cornerbacks.

At the end of the day though, 3 first rounders is a steep price. But I wouldn't avoid doing it just because it didn't work out with Lance. More so that I'd be less willing to do it if we don't plan on re-signing him when his rookie contract ends. Feels like a waste to give up 3 first rounders for the 2023 and 2024 season. You swing big with three 1sts if you plan on having them for the next 5+ years, and I'm not sure how that works because we have a lot of our own players we want to re-sign.

But yeah, if they DID make the trade, I'd admire and respect the guts. That's a huge signal that shows we're determined to win a Super Bowl.
