I don't see him being fired anytime soon. Kyle will stick with him for the rest of the season and most likely take responsibility for this mess once It's over with.

We might as well prepare ourselves for 2024. I can't see this team making any real noise come playoff time unless there's some serious adjustments made.

Let me prepare for what's to come in 2024, get ready for the Kirk Cousins era with Brock Purdy backing him up. Not saying I want that but prepare for it.
so we now have 2 fire Wilks threads

That's pretty much what I'm expecting too Tbh.

I suspect he is getting scapegoated cuz ppl feel a need for heads to roll,
he's the most convenient target for ppls ire

No one is getting scapegoated. He has been awful

so has the O
17 points a game, and a rash of turnovers in this losing streak

yet it's KS, who has built up massive equity over the years with the club and fans, and he's not remotely on any hot seat
Wilks has no such equity,

to clarify I'm not saying KS should be on the hot seat, I just disagree with fire Wilks as the solution, players decide games for the most part, we have good players, they have to play better, can't fail to tackle Joe Burrow like he's Beast Mode.

Not sure we can carry Cousins' salary cap hit along with the rest of the team, at least until such a time as Williams and other expensive players begin to retire/leave. Aside from that, personally I don't particularly want him.

As far as getting "scapegoated," players play fast when they understand their assignments and are confident that they all understand those mesh points and can trust their teammates. What I see are players--players who for the last several years have been fast, "all gas no brakes"--suddenly tentative about their responsibilities. They don't play as fast as they used to, and offensive playcallers have seen that and are exploiting it.

Who altered those assignments and responsibilities? Who introduced doubt and uncertainty into this world class defense?
The offense is just making boneheaded mistakes and without Trent our oline gets worked. We need him and Deebo. O is not the concern.

If we want to save our season, Lynch needs to swallow his pride and realize he hired a terrible D coordinator. They keep saying they're fully behind him, which is dumb as hell. The guy needs to be shown the door now! Promote a position coach, hire any ok D coordinator out there, s**t whatever you have to do to replace this moron.

playing fast what are you talking about, just have to tackle Joe B
the play was there to be made, make the play, nothing to do with fast, just to do with tackle the ballcarrier, in this case a more or less pocket passer QB

So you think what, they didn't *want* to tackle him? They didn't *want* to make the play?

Or they just all regressed, simultaneously, for reasons that have nothing to do with coaching
