The 49ers, as a team, are not broken. The 49er defense, however, is broken. The Cleveland Browns came up with a gameplan to expose the defensive weaknesses that NONE OF US SAW. But just because we didn't see it, doesn't mean those weaknesses were not there. Our next opponent, the Vikings, took a cue from the Browns and exposed the defense AGAIN. The Bengals came in today with a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality and absolutely ran and passed that football on a defense that suddenly cannot stop the run or the pass.
Brock Purdy is never going to look like the second coming of Joe Montana unless he is given the same kind of defense that Montana had. Purdy was, once again, forced to play from behind. He was forced to match the Bengals, score for score, and that is NOT Purdy's game. If the 49er defense gives up more than two touchdowns in any given game, it has FAILED. Well, guess what? That defense failed. In bunches.

we only have one d. rush 4, then soft zone the lb's 8 yards from scrimmage. Everyone gets it and is now picking apart the game plan with timing throws and come backs.
It's ridiculous.

It's like Gabe Kapler is running the defense.

we need to make some moves. I say fire wilks, ship armstead to carolina in a deal for burns, and sign a big ass zero tech. i think an upgrade at CB will not address the core problems.

I mean it's pretty obvious what the problem is. Our defensive coaching sucks and scheme sucks and now we are exposed.
On offense our coach thinks mcaffrey is the second coming of Jesus when in reality he's really not that good between the tackles. You stack in the fact that offensive line can't block at all during pass protection and we don't run up the middle to try to help with anyone other than mcaffrey and it stagnates.
The defense is soft and we need power handoffs up the middle to account for our crap online. Kittle and ayuik are overrated dropping passes hitting th m clean in the hands or bouncing off their face. They are good just not great when we all think they are great.
Too much for Brock to overcome with 3 guys that can't block and a ton of penalties. We just are a good not great team as has been exposed.

Armstead has been solid imo. He's not the problem.

Deebo is the heart and soul of this offense IMO. Maybe Aiyuk is the best true WR. Maybe CMC is the best playmaker/talent. But Deebo's blocking and ability to take a screen throw 10 yards behind him to the endzone is absolutely insane. A lot of short checkdowns to him go for first downs and big chunk plays. Jennings/Ray Ray as his replacement is awful.
Getting Trent should immediately help as Moore went back to playing like complete trash today.
Still 2nd half schedule is difficult. Purdy has to step up and win games is what it comes down to. Just more checkdowns to start with can help.

I don't agree with that. The cracks were there early in the season.
The Steelers game, they had a lot of guys open but Pickett was just missing throws. He played very poorly.
The rams game was frustrating for the defense. We gave up a lot of easy short passes that we're wide open over and over.
The giants game, while the defense played well, it was concerning we weren't sacking Jones considering every team they played had a field day against him to the tune of games with 10 sacks.
The cards game had a little bit again of the easy open passes and some leaks in the run game.
These weaknesses and issues have been there from the beginning which is even more concerning to me. They aren't being fixed and Wilkes isn't adjusting at all.

Season is far from over. Luckily we have a bye to try and get it fixed and get our s**t together. I don't know that we have the same second half of the season success we have had the last two year but I am not about to throw the damn towel in or start acting like a bandwagon fan who only loves this team when they are winning and are ready to fire or cut every coach or player when a mistake happens.
I love my coach and I love my team. Win lose or draw, I'm faithful AF and here til the damn wheels fall off.
So fro, look inward, channel that John Cena attitude and never give up.
This. We have some soft ass fans lol.

The signs have been there all season with the defense.
The offense scoring 30 points a game was covering a lot of those defencies.
Now that the offense is only scoring 17 points, those defencies on defense are becoming massive problems.

This defense is terrible and I thought that was a statement I would never make since the early days of Saleh.
