Defense definitely deserves a lot of blame for the losses. But so little is mentioned about scoring less than 20 points a game in the losses. Why does the offense always seem get a pass in the blame game from us fans?

Couple of reasons in my mind for these past few games:
1) we are missing Trent Williams, Deebo, and CMC is a little banged up. Not having Trent is like not having Bosa on the other side.
2) our defense has been so bad they can't get off the field. This is limiting plays for our offense and field position.

The 49ers, as a team, are not broken. The 49er defense, however, is broken. The Cleveland Browns came up with a gameplan to expose the defensive weaknesses that NONE OF US SAW. But just because we didn't see it, doesn't mean those weaknesses were not there. Our next opponent, the Vikings, took a cue from the Browns and exposed the defense AGAIN. The Bengals came in today with a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality and absolutely ran and passed that football on a defense that suddenly cannot stop the run or the pass.
Brock Purdy is never going to look like the second coming of Joe Montana unless he is given the same kind of defense that Montana had. Purdy was, once again, forced to play from behind. He was forced to match the Bengals, score for score, and that is NOT Purdy's game. If the 49er defense gives up more than two touchdowns in any given game, it has FAILED. Well, guess what? That defense failed. In bunches.
That right there is the disheartening thing so far about Purdy. I really like him and I want him to succeed so, so bad. He still has a chance to bounce back and the Niners as a whole can bounce back. True franchise QBs must be able to match score-for-score if the Defense is broken. You are a game manager if all elements must be perfect in order for you to win.
I'm going to use Mahomes as a current example. I know he just lost yesterday, but i'm talking about his career as a whole. His defense has failed him several times during his career and he willed the Chiefs to several wins. I am using this extreme example because a QB like him, or maybe even a notch below (Burrow, Allen, Lawrence (potentially)) is what you need to win SB's (most of the time).
The optimist in me believes these are the lumps Brock needs to become an elite QB. Many of the elite guys today didn't have a hot first or second season. As a fan I am mentally in a flux with Brock. Patience is tough in this league, but he still may pan out in the end. In our current situation, Kyle needs to scale it back again and build his confidence back up.
I get it, this sucks. We're all super down on many things about this team. The run game, PASS RUSH, Brock's 4th quarter INTs, but we must remain optimistic about this season. We have far too much talent on both sides of the ball for them to keep playing this bad. This is a mental block mixed in with poor coaching during the last 3-game stretch. Once the pass rush is fixed (and it will be fixed), this team will instantly be back in the SB discussion. That is our bread and butter. Without it, we are an average to bad team. Our D got countered the past 3 games. It's time to counter back and reassert ourselves.
The Jags can be had. If we get back to playing like the first 5 games, we win by 10+. That team still exists, they just need to be woken up. The Jaguars didn't exactly light up the Steelers and other than the Bills, their W's are against average to bad teams.
Thanks for listening.

Slumps happen sometimes.
I don't take pleasure in saying this but I see minimum 5 more losses.
9-8 would be broken in the final analysis.

three words: time of possession
Yep. And 3 and out in the first drive yesterday didn't help that.

I totally agree. Defense has been horrible. But if we are being honest with ourselves, offense isn't that much better. The offense is getting a pass because Deebo and William's are out. I hope that's all it is. No excuses against the jags.

Hargrave was MIA yesterday. He wasn't even listed on the stat sheet.

Lol it is the usual panic and anxiety in the webzone.
We are not at the stage where John Lynch has to ring up Kap and Tomsula and beg them to come back.
The team is a little out of sync and just needs a tune up in practice. All will come good after the bye.
I think Kyle needs to mix up the run game a bit. Teams are a wake up to CMC and Kyle needs to be a bit more creative with the run game. Defense needs to inject some more testosterone

i think the panic is legit, We won first five games convincingly, everything was clicking. now we cant score (except cmc) Defense cant hold, I know i know, weve started worse in recent years and mad it deep in playoffs, but the panic is warranted due to the hot start and the fall off. im not abandoning ship but please get it together soon!
