Need an EDGE opposite Bosa, not sure the FA class, but need a speed rusher, pray Beal & Jackson improve.
Im not gonna be shocked at all when they draft a pass rusher at 31. Especially with so many good o lineman in this draft. I think Drake is just a body. Hopefully Beal can develop. I'm all for an upgrade at center just wasn't sure they had much money to play with in FA.

Deebo's gonna get restructured IMO, saving $15.8m, we should have between $10m-$12m to spend, any deal will have a low 2024 cap number.

The 49ers don't have any glaring needs other than the O line. Other positions could be addressed but don't need as much help. Who the Niners draft will depend on value on the board when their turn comes up. That and what free agents they can add. I don't care who they draft as long as they get 3 or 4 solid players and a couple of starters. Any players that upgrade the team are welcome.

Let's get real about last year's draft. It was not very good. Niners did not pick until the third round and did a good job with the J'Aiyir Brown pick. Latu looks like a huge bust and Moody is average at best. The rest of players like Beal Jr, Winters, Bell, Graham, Willis. and Luter Jr. look like they have potential but they only showed flashes this past year. Niners have to take advantage of their picks this year to get younger, cheaper and deeper overall. They also need to get bonafide starters/stars in the first and second round. They have whiffed so often in those rounds, but it hasn't been fatal because of how they do later in the draft. Time to get it right all the way through this time.

I think because of the previous talent on the roster and Kyle's lack of trust in rookies we didn't get a good look at these guys. Moody had to play, and Brown maybe not much if Huf didn't get hurt. Willis was a standout in camp, but didn't get a lot of opportunities. The hurt is still out, but I agree that Latu didn't look good. Hopefully he's on the juggs machine all off season.

I was down on Latu until I seen a report where he's still new to the position transitioning from DE. Also Scott McCloughan had him rated as a 2nd rounder so that surprised me. I miss the players that Scott McCloughan drafted like Dashon Goldson and Delanie Walker 2 players I feel we should of kept and made the schemes on O and D just work...well basically the squad Harbaugh took over with Fangio and then Baalke destroyed the franchise. Drafting 1rst round grade torn ACL every 3rd and 4th round of the draft.

better thread for this: Do we think they could be targeting a big FA like Hargrave last year? If so who could it be?

Does the cap situation allow for it to happen? Both OTC and Spotrac have the Niners in the red.

Maybe but I didn't expect Hargrave last year either. They need to rework deals for sure. Obvious BA is the priority.

I think they are basically out of deals to redo except Deebo. They already said they won't do BA's deal until after camp. So they won't get any cap relief from his extension. So I don't expect much in terms of FA. Last year several guys restructured. Not sure they have that luxury this year.

I think we can be aggressive in FA cuz BP is making $900k and should be making $55m.

Agreed, Moody was very good. Obviously lets see next season, but while he took us for a ride I liked what I saw. Aside Moody and Brown, last years draft and the one before (aside Purdy) were bad. Cant be mising that bad this often otherwise the roster degrades quickly. This draft needs to net some fresh blood that actually contributes. This is partly why I want a high round focus on the O line. Lots of talent this draft that meets our needs and can easily improve the team asap and long term etc. No guarantees of course, but I like the way it lines up.

Last time we had high round focus on O line didn't work out so well with McGlinchey. BPA all day
Hargrave looked a little above average and nothing special. We are paying him too much money. Is it possible to possibly release him and sign Chris Jones? How much money would it hurt us to release Hargrave?
