Only in the 2nd half of the games when we are giving 5 ypc

1-Get rid of the 5-man fronts.
2-Odd fronts to leave Bosa on 1 v 1.
3-Play Womack because he can't be worse than Oliver.
4-E-T stunts with Young.
5-No more 10-yrd cushions.
6-Disguise coverages more.

About the running game I think that the main problem is execution because we aren't containing the edges and we are missing a lot of tackles in the middle. I think the only thing I'd do is playing Hufanga in the box more.

I would love to put Hufanga in the box if we had corners that were able to cover in man coverage.

Not only are we armchair QBs and armchair GMs but now we are also armchair coordinators!!! Our resumes are growing by the day.

I find it funny that almost everyone benches Oliver for Womack which i completely understand but at the same time Wilks hasn't gotten to use Womack bc he's been on IR. Just a little ironic.

Lol, I would actually be very comfortable being a DC for the Seahawks.
I will be on the sidelines

Without re-watching a bunch of stuff and really only being knowledgeable on OL/DL play, I'd say that our DL frequently get caught giving up their gap assignments... which leaves our LBs to deal with OL that are scraping off their initial blocks. This makes it tough to get in position for clean tackles.

On the other end of the spectrum, I often have seen our DL maintaining their gap assignments/containment on passing plays... giving QBs all day to throw. This is probably them compensating for the downs when they don't play the run well.

I have no idea why this is. Could be bad play calling by Wilks or bad instincts by the players. But we've struggled to consistently play the run and pass well. It's been one or the other. Perhaps this is a problem that we have always had and is often hidden when we are playing with a lead and teams are forced to pass more.

If I were calling the shots I would definitely call more stunts and bring pressure occasionally from a LB or Safety, dropping a DE to fill the space. These schemes make it harder for offenses to identify where the pressure is coming from, which means you can get away with really rushing 1 or 2 guys and leaving the rest to maintain gap integrity and tie up OLinemen.

Schematically I would get back to using more coverage disguises in an attempt to force the QB to hold the ball a tick longer. This means having a very static presnap look - two safeties back. Then at the snap, rotate into the coverage. I don't know how often Wilks is doing this, but he should do it a lot. Just start with two safeties back regardless of playing two deep or single high.

Get Hufanga into the box more often on early downs to help stop the run.

On passing downs, highlight Bosa by giving him isolated 1v1s via alignment.

Between Kinlaw, Givens, and McGill, play the two that best stop the run - sit the one that doesn't.

Come up with a motto for the defense as a rallying cry. Saleh was 'all gas, no breaks'. Ryans was S.W.A.R.M, an acronym for something I forget. Perhaps "punch them in the dick", or "bite them in the ass". Something like that, but not as stupid.

I can see the future 'Greatest NFL Defenses' rankings now:
1. Monsters of the Midway
2. Steel Curtain
3. Punch Them In the Dick
4. The Purple People Eaters
5...
I'd re-hire Wilks and fire him again the same day.

I think I'd go to the veterans and ask what's different?
idk but that soft coverage ALL GAME crap they did vs the Bengals , is for the birds.

Like , ''ALL GAME?''

Soft coverage ALL GAME?
Bring back the 4 man rush "pin your ears back and attack" Let our lbs trust each other in zone with safetys to help "contain" the run. Let Hufunga roam and use his instinct more. Trust Charvuis Ward to lock down most wide receivers
Lets try somebody who doesn't put our best pass rushers in coverage. Also somebody who doesn't zero blitz with 16 seconds left in the half and leave corners on an island.

I'll set up a bounty to whoever is going to take the opposing team's QB out of the game. Lol! ✌️only intent for laughter.
ok, so TODAY I am more than ever convinced that we should use the Horn Frogs 4-2-5 D and get our first pick some playing time already..

You mean versus other team's base offensive personnel (2WRs)? Use Jayir Brown instead of Oren Burks?
After watching Jonny's film review, the run defense inside looks absolutely atrocious. These guys are getting blown up and turned so easily the linebackers have no chance because the OL are already past the DL and into the second level ready to punish our smaller 'backers.

Bosa was surprisingly bad against the run on the edge too last week. That hasn't been the norm.

On another note, one thing I would do as the DC is be on the sidelines with the players. At least Wilks is doing it now, though it sounds like Kyle is making him lol.

Wouldn't it be funny to put that bounty on like the backup tight end? lol. Whenever he comes in like 5 players maul him for seemingly no reason
