yup we have the better conference record so we are #2 (ill update it at end of Sunday's game)

If we win today and Eagles lose on Sunday against the Bills its best case scenario. With us playing the Eagles next week if we win that game we have the tie breaker and would take the #1 seed

I'd love to get the number 1 seed. Having said that, if Brock was healthy in last years NFCCG, I still think we would have beaten the Eagles. Next week is a good test of where the 49ers are, and what they have to still work on.

Agree. As long as the defense is stout, they can go into any enemy stadium and win. The '88-'89 team proved that.
updated to reflect Week 12
Some notes:

1)With the Lions losing we jump up to #2 seed.
2) Unfortunately with eagles squeaking out a victory we won't have a chance to take the #1 seed from them this Sunday. But again as long as we win this upcoming week and win out the eagles will need to lose 1 more game for us to get the #1 seed We will have to root for the Cowboys and Seahawks in the next few weeks. Keep in mind the Eagles have barely squeaked out wins all season and they lost to the Jets because they couldn't finish that game it is possible for them to lose another game

With the number one seed we'd probably play Dallas in the Divisional (Dallas will beat up ATL/NO in the WC and be the lowest seed left over to play us). Then we'll have to play Detroit / Philly in the NFCC game.

With the number 2 seed we'll play Minn / Sea / GB in the WC, then Detroit in the Divisional, then winner of Philly/Dallas in the NFCC game.

I'd rather avoid playing Dallas for the 3rd time in three years…at some point the odds will go against us.

So the number 2 seed may not be a bad spot. In either case Dallas has to come to SF….the question is which is an easier path to the NFCC game and it seems like it's easier with the number 2 seed…

Come on man. #1 seed, bye week, rest is ALWAYS BETTER than the #2 seed. LOL.

So it's fairly simple:

If we beat the Eagles, 1 seed is back in play but pretty much have to win out or at least go 4-1 the rest of the way to have a good shot.

If we lose to the Eagles, 1 seed is out of play and it's about winning the division, so the following week against the Seahawks becomes critical. If we win that game, we pretty much clinch the division and then the rest of the season will basically be to catch/keep up with the Lions for the 2 seed (kind of like how last season we clinched a top 3 seed in mid-December and just spent the rest of the season wrestling with the Vikings for #2).

So basically:

Goal #1 is keeping up with the Eagles. Goal #2 (becomes Goal #1 if we lose Sunday) is staying ahead of the Seahawks. Goal #3 (becomes Goal #2 if we lose Sunday and Goal #1 if we beat the Seahawks again) is keeping up/staying ahead of the Lions.

EXACTLY..... I did have us playing them Knee Biting Lions in the NFCCG..
Playoff machine is giving me some information as of this date:

we are 2 seed, so Rams at SF
somehow Rams at 8-9 are in?

KC and PHI as 1 seeds

so our road would be Rams, Lions, at Eagles, SB

CORRECT... and I'm hoping that we face the Eagles first... I personally believe that we'll have a tougher time facing the Lions than the Eagles..

You think so? I don't think the Lions has anything for us.

I'm wondering if the Rams will overtake Seattle to get to the playoffs. Seattle may start imploding depending how tonight goes.
I just hope BP makes a pitstop in Iowa to John Deere some corn 🌽

I think I'm with you. Obviously I'd love to have the 1st round bye above all else, but if we get the 2 I'm not mad at all. I'd rather not have to face both Dallas and Philly in the playoffs. Last year, the Vikings royally screwed us by losing to the Giants and forcing us to have to play both, but hopefully this year is different.

Poor George Michael. Never received the credit he deserved for inventing the George Michael Sports Machine.
