might be the biggest regular season game of all time

Nah

name one bigger

The '94 Cowboy regular season was heavily anticipated and delivered. Still needed to win the NFCC, but this game was a measuring stick of sorts to finally show we arrived.

But since THEN?

It becomes very hard to pick one bigger I'd say.

2012 vs Green Bay, NYG were big certainly, but the Niners didn't yet have the SB pedigree I'd say where it was expected they were the better team that lost or possibly the best team (just a really tough out in 2011).

2013 week 2 in Seattle was huge, I remember. I hated losing that one, lol....

2019 Baltimore/Saints/Packers.....similar to the 2012 above.....we still needed to earn the SB berth.

2022 vs KC....really big, SB rematch....

This rematch vs the Eagles is of two teams that have played Super Bowls and lost to KC, and clear cut top 2 teams in the NFC.

Now it has bad blood to it, worse than any of the Niner/Cowboy bouts of late, based off just one game.

This one is big.

He ain't f**king lying. I still get chills when I think of the 94-95 Cowboy matchups.

That was ridiculously 1 sided. Completely outlandish. Many blatant calls on the Eagles were totally ignored.

yet the games are won or lost by the players
look at that ball to the endzone in OT, that needs to be a TD, dude is wide open, and QB / WR not on the same page there

Yeah it seems crazy they were not on the same page there. They could have won.

The Eagles will get 18 penalties for 170 yards on us. We get 1 penalty for 5 yards on them. That's a lot to overcome. No matter how much ahead or behind they seem to find ways to win. That's very scary. Hurts is really good. He's scrambling around, scrambling around, making plays off schedule or getting yards running. He's perfect for coming from behind.

The weather is perfect. With their monster offensive and defensive lines they just batter you in cold, wet and rainy. I'm very worried about cold, wet and rainy. If there is 1 Krytonite to Purdy it's that. He has small hands and can't grip the ball well. Yes I guess we are back to the small hands argument and I didn't want to be. But in clean, dry, sunny weather or a dome you can see he's much better and more reliable. They ball may slip out of his hand a few times. Fumble or mistimed throws that slip out and go who knows where. It could go anywhere. Hurts seems to be able to handle the bad weather.

The fans are crazy and rabid in that place and a lot to overcome as well. The Eagles team is for real. Look at their record. They lose nothing. The Tush Push is unstoppable. If they get 3rd and 2 or 1 or 4th and 2 or 1 they can march all the way down the field. You can't stop them if they get close. That's a huge advantage.

If we win the #1 seed is slightly in play if we can get a little Dallas help or somebody else. If we lose not only is the #1 seed permanently gone the #2 seed is in legitimate jeopardy. We could drop a lot lower. With a win at least #2 seed is about guaranteed. Because we have a good chance to win a lot of the rest of them. Maybe all of them.

This is exactly the type of QB the 49ers defense struggles with. A scrambling, running QB. Who ca get yards running, buy time to throw, or make off schedule miracles. Mahomes, Hurts, Lamar Jackson and anybody else mobile often give us big trouble. Because even if everything is covered, you tackle on traditional plays, get some pass break ups they still can kill you. Enough on off schedule plays to make them extremely difficult to beat. I'm very worried. But cautiously optimistic.

Great post! The penalties are what concerns me. Seemed like every time the team did something positive in the Cincy game to start gaining momentum, they got a penalty that negated that momentum. I wanna see us keep the penalties in check and play for 4 quarters.

If we minimize the penalties we have a chance. If we have an Bills vs Eagles penalty differential we probably lose. Which is outright cheating. It was so 1 sided it's completely ridiculous. The NFL has to at least pretend to be fair. They had multiple pass interference, personal foul horse collar, holding and some other plays that were just totally ignored.

I still think each play should be subject to review, even calls by the refs. They're human and miss calls too. The horse collar on Josh Allen was obvious and the ref was watching the whole time.
This is a tough one. Most likely eagles get the #1 seed, and they say "it's hard to beat a good team twice in the same season". So, whoever loses on Sunday, will make the necc corrections and come back for round 2, which is what really matters, playoffs, etc.
So many storylines, but regardless whom you support, eagles are the #1 team in the NFL. They beat Dallas, Miami, KC and Buffalo. All those are potential SB contenders. That is a very good list of wins in the last few weeks.
Let's hope the 49ers win, and let's hope more importantly, no injuries. This is a regular season game.

Wasn't it raining in Seattle??

What is this tripe that Brock Purdy can't play in rain, or the 49ers can't? Purdy played in plenty of rain, and snow, contests in college. THAT was weather. It rained tons last season. Purdy played fine. It rained in the playoff game against Seattle. Purdy won that game.

I'm not worried about Purdy. Not one bit. If Brock Purdy plays like Purdy, we will be fine. The big test will come on defense. Can the 49ers stop that Eagles team? I'm relatively confident that the pass rush will be nothing like the Eagles have faced yet. But can the team stop that inside rushing attack that has been problematic in those three losses? If the 49ers can stop that running game, which includes Hurts, you force Jalen to pass. He can still beat you that way because he is that good. Provided he gets the time. That's the big IF. That, and stopping the run game.
Reddick is a hot, steamy POS 💩

imagine Philly fans if they lost Hurts on the first drive. b***h feast to the next level

Veteran Posts: 28,954 NFL Pick 'em It's crazy they are the polar opposites of the Niners in terms of coming back when the team is down. Hurts has showed what we have been waiting to see from Brock. Leaning towards going to the game. Went to NFCCG last year and left at halftime. s**t was deflating. They winning this time. .

I agree with this. Sure was a lot of whining and s**t from the players as if they won. I hate when any team does that. Just take your L no matter how it came.
And weren't eagles players making excuses after they lost the SB lol?
