49ERS at EAGLES Pregame Thread - 2023 Season Week 13

Eagles give up 4.1 ypa. 49ers give up 4.0 ypa. I imagine both teams are going with a heavy dose of the run game. However neither defense gives up rushing TD's. So this game will ultimately come down to which team can make the most plays through the air.

Most of it will be before game time. Rain will be a non-factor. But a wet field could be an issue….

I live 45 minutes west of PHL and that's not what is being reported as of now. All day, all night rain. Hope they are wrong.

Well my confidence in this game took a big nose dive.

Yeah. If it's a good dose of rain, I don't expect us to win. If it's light or somehow clears up during the game, I think we win.

i just don't see us stopping hurts rushing around if it's wet weather.

For all the talk about the eagles O line and how good they are, their system doesn't protect their QB as well as ours.

49ers
21 sacks
9 hits
61 hurries

Eagles
29 sacks
13 hits
108 hurries
Agree, I'll just add that Purdy had 33 rushing attempts while Jalen has 114. That exposes Jalen to more QB hits, when he runs vs Brock when he passes. Brock has 305 pass attempts. Jalen has 358 pass attempts - that's 472 total touches to Brock's 338 touches - where Jalen's been exposed more to hits than Purdy.

Which QB is more protected on a game by game basis?

Not Brock

ST unit. We've been leaky as s**t on returns.

You are looking at it from a pure O line perspective? Do we need to invest heavily in the right side of the line? Absolutely. But by a per game basis when considering playcalling, system and QB. Brock has taken less hits, less sacks and less hurries per game than Jalen.

Sacks
Brock- 1.9 per game
Jalen- 2.6 per game

Hits
Brock- 0.8 per game
Jalen- 1.2 per game

Hurries
Brock- 5.6 per game
Jalen- 9.8 per game
Also, if anyone brings up that the eagles pass more than the 49ers. Yes. That is true. Jalen drops back to pass 18% more than Brock. Jalen has 420 dropbacks while Brock has 345. So if we increase Brocks sacks, hits and hurries plus 18%, they are still less than Jalen.

How long does jalen hold the ball? Who has more time before being hurried/hit?

Idk the answer, just curious if jalens pocket stats are due to him holding onto the ball for a long time. The announced said that during the bills game and i was curious how true that is.

Yup. QB was a part of the equation. Jalen still struggles to read coverages and yet they keep calling more pass plays for him to get sacked and hit on.

To answer your question. Jalen's average time in the pocket is 3.15 seconds. Brock's is 2.7 seconds. That is just under a half a second more or less than 1 mississippi.
