Is this year's defense a better version of last year? Then we have games against Cleveland, Vikings and Bengals, where the defense played really poorly. The only significant diff at this point in Chase Young. One guy can turn the fortunes of an entire team in a road game?

Absolutely. Mash them every time they try it. They should jump over the top and pile drive down on Hurts too. Several guys. Not just 1. Eventually they will stop calling the play.

Apparently Jalen is better than Brock because of Jalen's 2nd half comebacks. The problem with that idea is that if Hurts didn't play so s**tty in the 1st half of those games, he wouldn't have to comeback.

You don't think that's been tried yet? I would be dollars to doughnuts that that the strategy you have suggested, plus many others, has been tried in an attempt to stop the "Tush Push." All of them have failed. The 49ers do not have the kind of beef on the defensive line, nor at linebacker, to stop a play like that so my hope is they aren't forced to try. The 49er defense relies upon speed, quickness and leverage technique to stop opposing offenses. This does work and can work against the Eagles in many cases.
But not against the Tush Push. Forcing the 49er defense to try and stop this play is just going to result in injury. So, it's my hope that the 49ers are up by 35 points before the Eagles are in position to attempt a Tush Push. Because, even if they get it, it won't matter.

Key line in bold font and underlined. The only punishment that will be administered will be to our defense. Nick Bosa will get crushed. It's not his style. Never will be.
The Eagles line is both LARGE and POWERFUL. The down side to this is that they are also SLOW. That's something the 49ers can take advantage of. They are built to take advantage of this kind of mismatch.
The 49er defensive line will never win a power matchup against that Eagles line. Ever. So, why even try? Unless they are forced into attempting to stop it. If they are, that's usually a bad sign.

if you don't like the play, that doesn't mean you play outside the rules and take a penalty to give all those guys a 'free shot' that's not the 49er way or any other way, except maybe Raider?
you gotta push with all eleven, that's how they execute it, that's how it must be stopped, no contain, just all 11 pushing. A front line,, being pushed by a back line. They control the snap, and the timing, but a tie would go to the D. You could even have a personnel specific for that play, but the trick is they can go quick without a substitution and we must do likewise, bit of a chess match, maybe have the key personnel already in on 3rd, or call a TO.

49er DLine is relatively young.
