SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS at PHILADELPHIA EAGLES - 2023 Season Game 12

This isn't meant to diminish what the Niners did but the Eagles had 3 games in 13 days including a tough OT week before against the Bills. That probably had something to do with how the Niners just looked quicker than the Eagles for the last 3 quarters. You know our fans would have been talking about that if things were reversed and the Niners played that game after 3 games in 13 days. The Eagles D had been on the field a lot during that Bills game and the previous 3 games were against the Cowboys, Chiefs and the Bills. Having to face the Niners after that had to be an advantage for the Niners.

All true. To put in Hassan Ridick's words "all that boo hoo don't mean a thing. just line it up and prove it."

I wouldn't disagree with that take. The eyeball test does appear that we just had so much more gas than they did after the first quarter.
If we meet them in the NFCCG, we'll probably have similar amount of rest, and I'm sure the game might be a little closer.

But I would also push back on that take and point out that schematically, the Eagles linebackers and safeties were absolutely befuddled by our schemes. Sure, we outphysical'd them in a lot of ways, but there were a number of plays where the Eagles just couldn't cover our guys. They were just chasing them around all game.

Maybe they tackle and pursue better in a rematch, but our playmakers have a distinct advantage over their cover guys.

We had 3 games in 14 days, which is pretty much the same. Regarding the overtime, that's their fault! Why can't they just be men and admit they got soundly beaten?

Niners just need to get a first down and get on track. Defense won't hold up with these 3 and outs. This is not a good way to start this game but they only have 6 pts. Frustrating to see them play like this.
At this point I felt like the Niners just needed a 1st down and things would open up. I was frustrated just like everyone else but I didn't think we would lose. Once they got the 1st down it was fun to watch that a@@whooping they delivered. What a great game!!!!! Always Faithful Go Niners!!!!!!

I haven't gotten to look at the first two drives, but I assume the 49ers were trying to open the game and attack in a certain way. First 15 plays are scripted. Whatever they were thinking, didn't work... or maybe they had to fix something. But eventually they got the ball rolling though and we all know what happened.
And it was so much fun to watch once they got rolling. I wonder how the Pigeons feel after showing them it definitely is a different story when you have your starting QB playing. How is Reddick feeling today, actually I don't really care……boo-hoo

Seriously that is the blue print, keep Hurts in the pocket, make him feel rush pressure to get distracted, and make him read defenses and try to get past is second progression, dude is RB impersonating a QB

It's just hard to do. We are lucky we have the d line and linebackers to do it, most teams done. Our corners are playing great ball too, making it even more difficult. I'm sure it's something every team tries but few can actually do. What we did yesterday was extremely impressive and difficult.

Yeah, Phillies defense is rated pretty average. They have a really strong starting d line but crap depth. Then their corners are average, their linebackers are worse.

the difference between this year and last year is that they had a massive amount of depth upfront. Don't have that and their guys are getting gassed, playing way too many snaps this year.

hence, why we rotate our guys so often. We could play bosa way more but we are maintaining him for the playoffs too. You have to consider this stuff all year, it's one of the ways kyle is a better coach than siranni

I came away very unimpressed with Hurts' ability to be a pocket passer. Mix up coverages and make him dissect zones and he gives off a 'deer in the headlights' vibes.

He can't read defenses. His oline gave him plenty of time on a lot of plays yesterday and he stood there unwilling to pull the trigger. He lacks anticipation and needs his receiver to be wide open or he just chucks it deep hoping his great receivers can make a play. I guarantee if this continues, AJ gonna start acting up like Metcalf….

He can only make plays after the play breaks down. He's not a real qb.

Yeah and we won all three by like a combined score of 92-30

This. Ordinarily I might agree with the overtime and shorter rest thing, but they deserve absolutely no excuses whatsoever for saying the niners have no excuses for losing the NFCCG without a QB. They lost, period, at home, and after their coach played up everything that was said between these two games to make it personal and still got curb stomped. They got beat so bad that even with a month of rest and the niners playing a double overtime game on Wed they still would've lost.

Textbook hit too. Which the announcers made sure to point out.

That's technically on hurts too. He knew it was coming, but still threw it.
