49ERS at CARDINALS Pregame Thread - 2023 Season Week 15

We said this about browns & Vikings. As tonight's games proved, there are no easy games in this league. The worst team in the NFL can easily beat you if some dominos start to fall a certain way during a given game

Deebo and Trent are really our vocal leaders on offense, you can even say team. I don't see that from Hargrave or Ward. Obviously play wise we will see some difference, but Warner being the vocal leader on that defense I don't think its exactly the same as before.

Agree 💯%, they are tanking and have the 3rd overall pick in the 2024 draft. I'm sure they don't want to jeopardize that pick with a win against the 49ers! I'm already studying the Baltimore Ravens, right now.

Incredibly ridiculous...

This is upsetting. Not only do we travel way more than everyone else but have the least rest advantage. So dumb.

its all good cause we will get the first round bye and then another week off before the super bowl 😎

Agree about the traveling and rest issues, but being on the west coast and just a few teams on the west coast vs many more teams on the east coast kind of makes those issues permanent and a bit unsolvable.

Meh, I understand what you are saying, but Trent, Deebo and McCaffrey are good. Bosa is good. Chase is good, and the 49er DB's and LB's for the most part are good. Looking forward to seeing our rookie LB's play too. I think the 49ers got this. I was more worried about the Ravens game than this one.

Well I know being on the west coast created an issue but you'd think we wouldn't be scheduled against so many teams coming off a bye. I mean we had to play what, 3 or 4 teams coming off their bye? Did anyone else have that many?

if that's normal, then I stand corrected but I don't think that's normal.

Seems like another trap game scenario with Baltimore on the horizon, but it seems like this team is on a mission. However, without AA and Hargrave and Ward, I expect our defense to struggle but I don't think they can score with us.

Easiest solution:

- Get rid of one preseason game (only 2 would be played thereafter)

- Give every team two BYE weeks during the season (one in weeks 1-9 and a second BYE in weeks 10-18). More TNF games = players union needs to clamor for an additional BYE week during the next CBA negotiation.

- Do NOT let Seattle-based Amazon AI "help make" the 49ers' schedule 🙄

Isn't that what happens?

I thought west coast games started at 10Am PST and east coast games (when we travel) started at 1:25 PM PST (4:25 pm EST)?

Yeah, that is the exact suggestion I brought up several weeks back. Add a second bye week by getting rid of the third pre season game. Start the entire off season a week earlier than usually (so training camp around July 20th).

makes sense to me. The season is long af, these guys need more time off to heal their body's - it'll just improve the quality of games.

Don't forget that we played the Eagles when they were coming off a brutal stretch. It was their 3rd game in 13 days. With 32 teams spread all over the country and concentrated in the East you can't please everyone. West coast teams always log more travel miles than other teams.

Between rest, travel, astro-turf and the rest of the issues, I'm sure its not easy to schedule these games at all. Specially when the network contracts specify who plays on Monday Thursday and how many times etc...

Best way I know how to combat that kind of fatigue is to have a great defense. I've found out that as long as you have a great defense - you are never out of the game.

Much of the game scheduling also depends on the markets. With the markets mostly on the east coast - that greatly influences the timing of the games too. Its a bit of a double jeopardy.

What if the Cardinals long game is to let Brock Purdy throw for 8 TDs and break the NFL record for a single game. He then wins MVP and we have to pay him a max contract. Then in two years time we can't afford anybody and the Cardinals are rebuilt by then to take over the division.

We need a way to see how the rookie and bubble players can perform when given the chance. The preseason also helps get the kinks out.
