Is Christian McCaffrey the best Rb ever to wear a 9er uniform?

Frank Gore is #3 all time in rushing with the likes of Emmitt Smith, Walter Payton, and Barry Sanders coming into the league with two blown out knees on bum ass teams for most of his career.

This thread should be locked not for being to early but down right disrespectful to one of the greatest 9ers of all time. He might not of been the fastest, the biggest, the most shifty but is arguably the most consistent and straight badass RBs ever.

Amen!

Sometimes it's best not to try and compare and just let things be.
Gore with Juice, Kittle , and Trent would've been crazy.

Gore was beasting during the Dark Age niners with Kwame Harris,Jed Weaver and Shaun Hill.

Fred Beasley was great but Juice is Top tier.
It's hard to say CMC is the greatest to ever wear the uni when he's played so few games as a Niner. Early backs like McElhenny, Perry, Craig and more recent ones like Gore are true Niners. All were drafted by the Niners and played most of their career with SF. If CMC had played his whole career in SF then I would have him right up there with the others.
yes! Gore is a easy 1A. Craig & Hearst were amazing! But CMC affects each and every game. i say this all the time, i never really knew how elite CMC was until he came here

If you saw enough Stanford games when he played there you would have known. He was far and away the best back in college. He was wasted on a bad team in Carolina.

Gore carried the niners during the darkest eras we've ever known. How can you even compare that to CMC surrounded by one of the greatest rosters of all time.

SHAME ON YALL! GORE IS THE BEST EVER, PERIOD.

end this fkn thread.

You're being emotional

hard not to get worked up thinking about the sacrifices gore made, he was like the only light of hope during the darkest times

he never had a kyle jusczyk or kittle or a goat LT paving the for him, yet he never complained!

meanwhile CMC over here playing with a mind boggling roster of GOATS for 2 years straight and all of a sudden he's the greatest niner RB of all time, WHAT IN THE FKN FCK?!
Bruce Miller was a good fullback until the legal side caught up with him. Gore also had Vernon Davis and Delanie Walker at TE and although he isn't the goat, Joe Staley is one of the best offensive linemen to ever wear a Niners uniform.

I remember proposing this trade, long before it happened due to the obvious propensity of KS to run, and the Shanny ties, his father of course played for Papa Shanny and with Lynch. Lynch went to Stanford, like CMC. That was often the response I got, he's too expensive and too injury prone..

Also...old Larry Allen is still better then anything we have today at guard too....

I think the most legitimate argument to make is not "did Gore have blocking" because clearly he has some blocking, it is "was there any threat to control the box" and I think clearly the answer is....no..... Most backs could not have done what Gore did with such a terrible passing game.

That in my mind makes Gore super Rare

Tom Moore's offense that Barry Sanders was in...was pretty epic. Loved that offense, second on my list to the WCO. Emmit had tons of talent around him to help him, and CMC has tons of talent around him now.... So for Gore to do as well as he did...nah man....that is special as hell.

Clearly Gore's 49ers are not like the other offenses....it was pretty much Gore alone. VD was an epic blocker right out the gate, but it took years for him to live up to his expectations as a pass catcher. It took years for Alex Smith to be considered even average.

The only reason CMC is even in this conversation is the play calling fit and his ability to run routs. That is a fair justification to including him....but yeah it is too early to make a definitive answer.

Craig is my favorite all time 49er, but to me he was always a FB

So in my opinion the answer has to be Gore.

CMC and Hearst are what ifs. What if Hearst never got hurt and what if CMC can do this for a half decade.

Technically you could say it was O J Simpson. I know he was shot when the Niners had him but he did wear the uniform. I remember going to a Raiders game and watching O J in his rookie year. The Bills just lined him up at flanker and used him as a decoy, completely wasting his first 3 seasons. Then they got a new coach and he had 5 straight years over 1000 yards and lead the league in rushing 4 times. including being the first player ever to gain 2000 yards. He did that in 14 games. Then his knees went bad and he didn't get over 600 yard in any of his last 3 years. Strange career for a great player.

Yeah they should've drafted Mccaffrey in '17 tbh.
