Larry Allen was pretty good.

great during his cowboy years, he was a shell of himself as a niner

Yea he definitely was good with us in 06, which was Gore's best year as a Niner.
This is how I would compare CMC and Gore:

Runner: CMC
Gore was an inside the phone booth between the tackles runner, one of the best ever at IZ… CMC better with toss sweep and OZ. Both lacked top end finish speed, but CMC is much faster. Would be surprised if Gore was sub 4.6

Pass Pro: Gore
FG was devastating at pass pro, CMC is effective.

Receiving: CMC
Speaks for itself, dude could play slot receiver on a lot of teams right now. Gore was decent at receiving but he wasn't a downfield route running threat like CMC

Blocking: tie
They are both unselfish blockers when they don't have the ball

So overall CMC wins IMO
Gore is the greatest RB to play for the 49ers, but CMC is the most talented. CMC has a chance to move to the top of the list if he sticks around for a few more years and is hopefully a part of this dynasty that is brewing.
some of you guys need to catch up on your 49er history lol

Not bringing back Waters was a colossal mistake and then they more or less neglected the position until they acquired Hearst.

Not having a run game in an era where running the football was still hugely important was a blunder beyond belief. That they looked at Loville and said "yeah, this guy will do!" was wild.

He was still a monster in 2006. Another one that got away. William Floyd was a pretty good fullback but using a 1st on him was always kind of rich IMO, especially when Isaac Bruce was a monster. And then about 20 picks later, the Cowboys took Allen.

A still in his prime Jerry with Isaac Bruce would have been something to see. And it would have prevented the whole Rams Greatest Show on Turf deal. Or they grab Allen and Bobb McKittrick gets to work with the most talented Iineman that he ever laid eyes on.

Craig was the CMC 100 years ago

It wasn't *that* long ago haha. Were absolutely spoiled. Those who didn't see any of the magical 80s live missed out.

So much hype but he was never even a Pro Bowler. They blew some big picks that could have completely changed the future of the franchise. A year earlier they had back to back 1sts, the first was Stubblefield, great pick. The second was Todd Kelly, who was out of the NFL like 3 years later. And MICHAEL STRAHAN was just sitting there! 😐 Hell they could have taken Chris Slade who went a couple picks later and was a very productive pass rushing OLB for the Patriots
