Lamar is the complete package. He's what a lot of people think Hurts is. He'll run it all over you and if you give him time, he'll light you up with his arm too. I think he can hold the ball too long at times but he's a dangerous player, especially with a dominant defense that gives him a real margin of error to work with.
I haven't seen the Ravens play this year... So we can't just simply take away the scramble lanes (like we did against Hurts), because Lamar CAN play conventional QB?
That's going to be a challenge. A guy who can run around and stretch the defense and extend plays.
Sounds like the onus is for the defense to get stops when they can, bend/don't break, and trust the offense to put up 30, 40 points.
I think that's the big confidence generator we all seem to have in the team this year.
Like yesterday's game could've easily been a loss or nail biter win with Garoppolo. Our defense can't shut teams down every single week, and can't necessarily expect to shut down Lamar either.
The 2023 Niners have essentially the explosiveness of the 2021 Rams with the ball control typical of Shanahan teams, along with the rugged defense. This is the big difference this year, and it's Purdy and CMC that help deliver that.
I imagine the Niners will play the Ravens tougher than the Commanders. Need a big statement win, I hope our guys hate the Ravens as much as the fans do.
I have so much confidence in our offense that they have historic-level explosiveness, and can also grind out a game by running the ball. This season, it just feels like they're steadily putting up points, and opposing teams just can't keep up over the course of a 60 minute game.
What's insane is that the players themselves will tell you that they could still play better, and are continually working on improving. To me, I think this is the difference between us and other teams (cough, Dallas).
