That's why it's so important that seattle loses tonight and we win against baltimore and Washington. We don't need week 18 determining the 1 seed. Especially if the rams are fighting for their playoff lives.
I'm definitely glad we're playing them at home.

Ironically the NFC team that gave them their toughest fight was the Rams. Let's simulate what they did well, fix our mistakes and get this W.

Lamar is the complete package. He's what a lot of people think Hurts is. He'll run it all over you and if you give him time, he'll light you up with his arm too. I think he can hold the ball too long at times but he's a dangerous player, especially with a dominant defense that gives him a real margin of error to work with.

I haven't seen the Ravens play this year... So we can't just simply take away the scramble lanes (like we did against Hurts), because Lamar CAN play conventional QB?
That's going to be a challenge. A guy who can run around and stretch the defense and extend plays.

Sounds like the onus is for the defense to get stops when they can, bend/don't break, and trust the offense to put up 30, 40 points.

I think that's the big confidence generator we all seem to have in the team this year.

Like yesterday's game could've easily been a loss or nail biter win with Garoppolo. Our defense can't shut teams down every single week, and can't necessarily expect to shut down Lamar either.

The 2023 Niners have essentially the explosiveness of the 2021 Rams with the ball control typical of Shanahan teams, along with the rugged defense. This is the big difference this year, and it's Purdy and CMC that help deliver that.

I imagine the Niners will play the Ravens tougher than the Commanders. Need a big statement win, I hope our guys hate the Ravens as much as the fans do.

I have so much confidence in our offense that they have historic-level explosiveness, and can also grind out a game by running the ball. This season, it just feels like they're steadily putting up points, and opposing teams just can't keep up over the course of a 60 minute game.

What's insane is that the players themselves will tell you that they could still play better, and are continually working on improving. To me, I think this is the difference between us and other teams (cough, Dallas).

You mean Philly loses not Seattle

Yep. I'm kind of baffled when I see people talking about Lamar like he's some average passer. I don't think those people have watched Lamar play. Absolutely the real deal

In his last 7 starts he has just two games of multiple touchdowns thrown. 4 games this season with 0 TD thrown. Completed under 60% of his passes in 4 of his last 5 starts.

That actually doesn't surprise me. The Rams aren't what they used to be, but they have a great QB, smart playcaller, weapons on offense... and Aaron Donald at defense... They can make things tough for anyone.
when you consider the other contenders and how they each have flaws, it's gonna be SB or complete bust here

Nice video on how BAL is leading the league in sacks without having multiple premier pass rushers. This game will test Brock and the OL's ability to adjust postsnap.

TLDWatch: BAL defense is really good at using simulated pressure to break protection schemes. (Rush four, but disguise who the four rushers are).

Going to be a good challenge. Brock is pretty good post snap quick read and recognition. They can disguised and rotate, but if they have to pay attention to CMC, Deebo, Kittle, Aiyuk, Juice--- that's a lot of stress to bust coverage.

On some of plays, they'll drop up to two DL into coverage so they can rush a LB and a slot CB. There are ways to make a defense pay for dropping lumbering DL into coverage, but I think they real key is getting into 3rd and manageable situations (3rd & 5 or less). This way BAL can't get too exotic. Go ahead and drop DL into coverage and watch Deebo/CMC take a short pass and YAC for the short first down.

One thing that the 49ers do, that may play into the hands of BAL's defense, is line up their WRs in tight splits. The 49ers often align their WRs tight to the tackles which makes slot CB blitzes something to watch out for since there are so many defenders in the box, naturally from the offense's alignment. To help define which defenders could be rushing, it helps to spread the defense out. It'll be interesting to see if Kyle helps his QB/OL out in this sense by using more spread formations.

Sounds like more 4x1 formation maybe...
gotta watch out for 14 if he's healthy

I feel really dirty when I have to root for the seahawks or cowboys.
