SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS vs BALTIMORE RAVENS - 2023 Season Game 15

The whole deal about Brock and MVP, was different than any other QB or player being considered. It was like Brock was actually hated by other players in the league for even being considered a candidate for MVP. I have never seen that type of emotion toward other MVP candidates in the past.
But like I said that talk is out the window now.

That Ravens defense is basically built to stop the 49ers with how crazy strong they are up the middle on all levels.

You'd think an offensive genius could game plan around that

If offensive genius could always game plan against the talent against them then Walsh would have been far better against Parcells.

Obviously Walsh is no offensive genius, being held to 3 points in consecutive playoff games.

There are such silly, ahistorical takes around here.

Could you imagine this forum after the three 1-and-done playoff appearances of 1985-1987.
The big difference is Walsh had actually won championships at the point the two aren't remotely comparable.

I think Lamar just won the MVP tonight. I know it's only one game but Purdy with four INT's pretty much blew his chance this year. Jackson was clearly the better QB on the field tonight and it wasn't even close.

3 of the 4 picks were balls batted in air. 1 bad INT for sure. Could have changed the game had we ran when we were down in the red zone on the first possession

This is the way its supposed to play out. 49ers lose the regular season game and the 49ers win the SB

.Yeah, I hope so. Maybe this will be a wake-up call that the team needs before the playoffs start. I seriously doubt we have 5 INT's if we see them again in the SB.

What happened to Brock tonight? Did Shanahan just do a "Pull the QB to not hurt his confidence no more than it has to be?" Or not to risk a serious injury due to the Raven D? I want Brock to play next week I was just saying if Sam has to play he will be ready.

Didn't feel the need to risk further injury behind an OL bookended by McKivitz and Moore?

And if you don't trust those guys enough to put Purdy behind them, why are they even on the roster?

Yes my thoughts exactly.

Thiiiiiiiis. Like damn. If they pass on drafting at least 2 O linemen within the first 4 picks, I will have to just accept this as a fatal flaw. Like Bill Walsh and running backs (Roger Craig notwithstanding).

Rams took this team to OT. We abandoned the run way too early. Not sure why as CMC was clipping yards after that safety. We should have kept pounding the run and not setting up the run with the pass.
We abandoned the run from the outset terrible game plan.

Once they where up, they're D was hunting. If they had to come from behind, and our D hunts, I think we win this game.

The big difference then Joe Montana. Joe was one of a kind. Walsh was a genius but joe made it click.

They still would've wanted to fire him. Kyle not being in Walsh's class doesn't change that.

Doesn't matter, stat lines don't give descriptions of the the INTs….you either have them or you don't.

He sorta did by dialing up the passing plays.

I'd imagine the thought process was the Ravens' D was going to focus on stuffing the run so pass the ball to back them off than once you have them on their heels a bit hit them with the run and once that works you follow it up with play action passes.

The fanbase can speak out of its mouth at times. We want to say Purdy is elite and bring up all these crazy numbers and proclaim we've got the most talented group of skill players in the league but at the same time we armchair it when it doesn't work out and say we should've ran the ball more.

That's not to defend Shanahan and say his playcalling is perfect but if we're this talented on offense we shouldn't really have a problem on how much Shanahan deploys the pass or run.

Yes, he had. But that just means he should have never lost again because he was clearly that much better of a coach. Walsh left four championships on the table in 1983, 1985-1987. No excuses, he lost more than he won.

That's the glass half empty argument.

I wish we ran with Mason more, early.
