SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS vs BALTIMORE RAVENS - 2023 Season Game 15

This may belong in the Silver Lining thread but here my thoughts for the game:

Look, they got pushed around, no doubt about it. If they come away with no long term injuries, I think they'll be ok. Brock still young and learning. He had some great quotes that showed that he was pressing trying to make a play. If he throws the ball away a few times the game is closer.

If we see ravens again, I trust our coaching staff to have a better scheme, we got out coached and out played at LOS. This is likely indcative of why we get handled by strong AFC teams, Kyle/staff need to see how a team reacts in order to have the appropriate scheme. In this way, it's probably a good thing if we get to Super Bowl and see the Raves.

5 turnovers vs 0 you are not winning any games.

I think some humble pie is good as they were getting too high again. 2 MVPs on same team blah blah blah

A year of 5 straight wins…one more to end it baby.

Both of them sucked last night, but Purdy should get a ton of blame for that loss.

Very unlike Purdy on the first Int. Maybe his fault on the screen pass as well, that's debatable.

I knew missing 3rd and Jauan was going to be huge. We didn't look the same on offense.

Give Ravens credit, they flew across the country and absolutely demolished us. They were the hungrier team. We looked slow (except our WR's and Kittle) and once we were getting punched in the mouth, we turned into Glass Joe. Missed tackles and penalties killed us. We aren't built to come back from behind with our O-LIne. This was a tough loss. Only one game but we went into this as one of the teams to beat but the Ravens made us look like pretenders.
Still control our destiny for the 1 seed. On to the last 2 games
Still think we are way more talented than BAL, that was a disaster. it was a public humiliation
Purdy will learn from it. He tried Heroball a few times, it'll work against lesser teams, not againt one that has picked you off severap times, and almost a couple more. He was late and inaccurate on a xouple.of throws, uncharacteristic for him.

Our O Line is a huge concern. We can't eun to the right side, Purdy is gettig pressured and hit from the right side to often.

Our passrush has not been on par the whole season, even against much less mobile qbs.

Ji'Ayir Brown needs to improve his angles and tackling, quick!

When we look at our losses, the recepie was simmilar in Cleveland the Browns had a simmilar game plan against us as Baltimore it worked.

Of everything mentioned the most concerning part is the O line, now even the starters who to begin with (except Trent) have not been stellar are out.

Purdy is the least of my concerns, the errors are quickly correctable, also I do not see another team which could be as phisically dominant as the Ravens in the playoffs.

The best team doesn't always win. It's been that way since 2011

That's true, but show up, we got spanked and embarrassed. I mean by the end we sat Brock cuz we were getting our rears handed to us so soundly. We did this at home on MNF
We obviously have work to do if we were to see Ravens again, but if I had not watched and you told me we had 5 Int I would of thought the game was much worse than 33-19. A 2 TD loss when losing the turnover battle 5-0 isn't as bad as it looks.

I wouldn't say they demolished us. The ravens were +5 in the turnover battle but only won by 14. They only started to pull away when they had back to back very short fields on offense.

Lamar is something like 20-1 versus the NFC in his career now? That is a crazy stat. It was suggested that one reason he has so much success versus the NFC is because NFC teams rarely go up against him and there is no other player in the league like him. Can't even run a scout team QB to simulate his abilities. Now that these 49ers got an up close look at how well he plays, they should be better equipped if there's a rematch.

Can't be sure without the all22 but to me it seemed as though the BAL defenders were not letting Brock's eyes manipulate them when they were in zone. That, along with the turnovers did in the 49ers. In hindsight, more CMC running the ball could have helped, and at one point I thought Kyle was trying to get Brock his MVP award.
We protect the football and its a completely different game.

I recall debating ppl, in the Lamar thread, ppl said he was a RB playing QB, or that he didn't deserve a big contract. I found myself a big Lamar defender, as I saw him as a elite QB, still do. This was when his contract was the big offseason discussion.

Yea, I don't disagree. Baltimore was working for their yards, and they benefited from short fields because our self imposed mistakes eg INTs, late hit penalties. We were actually moving the ball well but Shanny for some odd reason just deviated from the game plan and made CMC an afterthought. We're a run first team setting up play action. Instead he went for a pass first run later scheme and it cost us.

The loss doesn't bother me. It's the toll it took that kills it. Injuries, Brock losing MVP. It just feels we let all the narratives slip away and that sucks…

How ironic considering Shanny tried to also get CMC the TD record. What a buffoon sometimes, our head coach, I'll tell ya.

You are absolutely right. I remember a piece they did on Steve Young in that 1994 SB, and how Mike Shanahan was upset because he wanted Steve to break all the passing records and for the Niners to run up the score.

Its a Shanahan thing, and I have no doubt that Kyle decided he was going to unleash Brock on prime time and let him solidify the MVP and let the team make a statement.

He deviated from the game plan and what sucks is that after 2 TOs he just didn't revert back to what makes us successful. Even after that massive CMC run and TD where you saw the run was working, he still decided to let Brock go and win it.

Epic fail and it cost Brock the MVP and now with an injured roster we have to play hard just to secure the number 1 seed.
