Yes. Intentional or unintentional inconsistency. I never stated which. You are the one who keeps throwing out trigger words. I am not just refering to this game when it comes to officiating. Its league wide and the NFL needs to do something about it. Also, that call on Lamar in the endzone last night was horrendous. They should have just let that penalty go since the ref accidentally interfered with the play.
Let me say it again. We lost this game because we turned it over 5 times. The ravens defense read our plays like they were the ones running them. We were very predictable. Brock's first INT he was slow to get to his 3rd read and threw it late. The others were great plays by the defense and yes, Brock was pressing to make plays when he should have just protected the ball. Hopefully the coaches get into his head this week. We can't have that s**t in the playoffs.
The defense was playing really well until they felt like they needed to make a play to stay in the game. That's when the damn broke. The fact that we were -5 in turnover differential and only lost by 2 scores is a demonstration of the talent on this team. We out gained them by 86 yards and converted 3rd down at a higher rate. Most of their scoring came off short starting field position. I have no doubt we will bounce back and make a deep run in the playoffs. I would love nothing more than to face this ravens team in the SB.
you don't let a penalty go. Refs are part of the playing field essentially, if you run into one as a receiver and the ball goes the other way, that's the breaks more or less. Once he threw it to no one in his own endzone, that's a safety.
What exactly should the NFL do about penalties, which you suggest, but you never suggest what the league should do. Easy to say NFL should improve, let's hear the specifics. I think most NFL games are called pretty darn well. I don't think you can robo ump the NFL, like you can in MLB. MLB has more objectivity to what a strike zone is. NFL is more subjective, what is allowed contact, and what isn't. The lines are a lil more subjective, in my opinion. Only thing I can think of is having the game instant replay reviewed for penalties, but that comes at a cost of slowing down the game, also fairness, what penalties do you review, why this penality vs that.. In a certain sense, I think the league already does this, as NY seems to chime in and get the game crew to overturn things, or pick up flags, if the in game officials are clearly in the wrong. I think the overarching goal is get the game officiated correct, as much as you can, with minimal slowdown.
