SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS vs BALTIMORE RAVENS - 2023 Season Game 15

Good read.

Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald didn't have their linebackers mug as much as they usually do and brought pressure from the edges. The Ravens didn't want to make it easy for the 49ers to gash them in the middle of the field with hot throws. On the third play of the game, they had linebacker Roquan Smith mug the line and blitz and they got burned for a 58-yard pass to George Kittle. After that play, MacDonald seemed to adjust and went away from their usual style of play.

Stephens described Purdy as a "spot thrower" and said that they just needed to be in the spots that he likes to throw to based on film. I believe he means that Purdy is an anticipation thrower and he's going to throw with anticipation into windows that he believes will open based on the coverage. Though Macdonald deserves a lot of credit for his play calling, he had the Ravens prepared to capitalize on Purdy's tendencies.

The 1999 St. Louis Rams give me hope. That year they loss to Tennessee 38-23 in the regular season. Then in the Super Bowl, the Rams beat them 23-17.

I'm hoping history repeats itself.

That Rams team also had a ridiculous amount of talent on offense.

I'm not confident we would beat them In a rematch, but I am confident the team won't play as bad as they did on Monday night.

It's the nfl. On any given Sunday any team can beat another, especially when the breaks and bounces all go one way. I thought it was strange that Kyle went all throws early on.
Also, if we play them again Brock will respect Hamilton much more, you can't expect the same window with that guy roving around.
Kyle and Brock need patience. He can't expect to run up high scores against good defenses.

That's another way of saying they didn't allow Brock's eyes to manipulate them. They stayed in the spots where Brock is likely to target and took their chances, and it gave Brock some problems. Credit to them. Can't wait to see BAL again, if it shakes out that way.

very interesting, I thought the Raven's secondary definitely did a good job defending "spots." The first interception especially, considering Brock usually plays well against zone defense

Yeah I thought Brock would slice up their zone coverages, but they were very disciplined and those comments tell me a lot about their gameplan. That first INT may have spooked Brock a bit because he felt he looked off the safety only to find out the safety's gameplan was to defend areas of the field, and it paid off with a rather easy INT.

We'll see them again

I just knew you'd show up after a loss. You haven't been here during the winning streak. Coaching hasn't been a problem during the wins but during a loss that's all you focus on. Five turnovers. I checked the stat sheet and Shanahan didn't make one of them. Time for you to begin a new rant, this one's worn out and not valid, never was.

as bad as the game was because of all the TOs, were we not there still w/like 2+ minutes inside 3? And what was the plays called?

AGAIN - we have the best RBs (FB & TB) in the NFL, and even MASON is pretty good, why not just RUN THE BALL ??

did we not turn the ball 5x due to passing plays ??

or better yet, just answer the question.. Why not just run the ball ??
send this thread to mordor.

Stats-wise, no way in hell. This year would be a good year to give it to a skill position player not QB.

Ballsy gameplan, but tip the cap to them. I believe Brock and co will be ready for them round 2 if it does shake out that way.
I will say it's wild how much holding I saw vs our DL this game. When you got a scrambling QB there's gonna be holding.

I recall them showing the replay of a hands to face penalty on the OL and within the replay there is Bosa getting held by another Ol clear as day lol

I've yet to see a game this year where Lamar made everyone jumped up..

aside being a 49er fan, my list would be.. IN ORDER...

Yes, give it to CMC, otherwise no skill position player or no QB could ever win it.

The Ravens D won this game more than Lamar, easily.
