Some of you are showing your football knowledge. You NEVER rest all of the starters if the last week is a meaningless game and you have the bye week. That is wayyy too long for starters without injuries to rest. They need to stay in game shape and 2 weeks rest is too long.

Usually I would agree with you on this point... but this group is wired different. I feel they will not be rusty come game time.

That and some of the older and hurting players need the rest badly.

It depends on the player.
CMC is a great example of a guy to rest. He's got a calf strain. But you know a guy like that will come ready to play, even if he's off for three weeks.

But yeah... as Shanahan said, practically, you can't rest everyone even if you wanted to. We have injuries. Guys will have to get some snaps in regardless.
I remember a year where we wanted to rest Bosa, but he had to rotate in because defensive line was thin.

I'm of the opinion that this team knows what's at stake though. I don't expect a letdown in three weeks, just because we gave some guys some rest.

This team for the most part after a rest, play great. They won't be rusted, they will be rested and ready to play.

We already have the bye. Take one week off the team is fine. Two weeks off is probably too much.

We're obviously resting players next week in some capacity.

No matter what it's a game with no stakes. One aspect of an idea against resting is you are dialing down the intensity for an extended period of time. I don't think we can change that even if we play starters next week.

Only injured players will get two weeks off. Most likely everyone will get a little playing time. This is a veteran team, they know what to do to stay sharp.
I think it's hilarious that the team was more excited about the cards win than our win, while still in washingtons stadium. Lmao

Yeah, I think it's guaranteed that guys like Trent, greenlaw, CMC, Banks, maybe kittle and/or deebo (or only play a half).

we have quite a few guys banged up or is long in the tooth, those guys will barely play or not play at all.

i don't want to see greenlaw or Trent at all.

we have complained about us having the worst rest differential but now we are concerned we will be too rested.

Look what we did to Ragles with 13 rest days. I am not super concerned about being rusty i am way more concerned about health
With the way this season has gone you have to lean towards rest. Evidence on hand is that this team plays better coming off rest, so you roll with that. If they come out flat you can't hindsight it because the way to handle it was so clearly laid out.

Besides, coming out flat typically doesn't last a full game and could easily happen after a two week rest/prep schedule anyway.

we have come out strong after bye week and to start the season against the steelers. I think the #1 priority should be health when there hasn't really been evidence of us starting flat due to roo much rest

Agree.

I'm curious if it's the scheme and/or playstyle under Wilks, even though its very similar to what we've done but i do agree. this team is way better coming off rest. not so much the offense, but the defense.

The offense just needs a few key guys to get healed up - trent, CMC, Banks, Jennings. I'm sure Kittle has some lingering injuries, as always. Deebo probably could use an extra week off but he is the type that I feel like plays best in a rhythm. I expect kittle and Deebo to play the first half this week but nothing after that.

I think brock will play this next game, at least half, but what concerns me is who will be playing in trents spot. I don't want brock to get wrecked in a worthless game.
