This season feels like a complete loss without a Lombardi

I may be beating a dead horse here but, honestly, ever since the dark age of '03 to '10, each year the team has gone the past 13 years without a Lombardi has stung immensely.

2011: Felt like destiny. Then Kyle Williams happened. No need to rehash further; but seemed like the year. Absolutely brutal.
2012: Defense collapsed in the playoffs and Super Bowl. Despite going down big and the blackout, they still managed to get within a score and goal line situation. Rough.
2013: Again goal line/redzone situation and it's tipped and picked in the endzone against the hated Seahawks. How has this happened three years in a row?!

2014-2018: Dark Ages Part 2. 2018 felt like we turned the corner, until week 2 or 3 when JImmy G tore his ACL. Snake bitten.

2019: Again feels like destiny; team is on an absolute tear. Destroys Minny and GB but runs into KC and battles horrendous officiating, and a team-wide crumble in the 4th quarter. This one hurt the most since the 2011 NFC CG.

2021: They go on an absolute surge mid- to end the season. Insanely memorable games. The GB snow game ranks up there with one of the all-time greats. Cinderella story ends against LA in the Championship game; as usual, in the waning moment; excruciating fashion.

2022: I'll make it short. Another Cinderella story mixed with immense talent. Lance: done in Week 2. Jimmy G inexplicably back on the team leads them and has his best season since 2019...until he goes down. Enter Brock Purdy. We all know the rest...again, another NFC CG loss, but this one is the worst since the Giants in 2011...because we never saw what could have been.

So here we are. 2023. The best team this franchise has ever fielded since 1994.

If any of those previous years, from 2011-present day, yielded just a single trophy, it wouldn't feel so desperate...at least to me. But they didn't. There could have been several. There've been none. I was nine years old when they won in 94. Feels like an eternity.

So as wonderful as this season has been; it just feels like it's unfinished business, and none of it matters without a trophy at the end.

Anyone else just feel like they need to see just ONE again, and then they're good for a long time and the heartbreak of these other seasons wouldn't sting so bad? Maybe it's just me. Hoping they finally turn the corner this year. We're due and holy hell, has it been a gut-wrenching journey that's fallen painfully short the past decade.
Yea - it's Championship or bust - especially since we have come close 4-5 times over the last 12 years. Iirc - felt a kick in the stomach for a couple weeks straight after we lost to Baltimore and KC. Baltimore one really hurt bc we really just gave that away and it was the first time we had lost in the SB.

This team is too good to not win it all and I'm not sure how many chances we are gonna get with the current stars of the team. Don't think it will ever hurt as bad as Baltimore bc a) I was young and believed in Dani Rojas "Football is life" moto b) Going thru all the heartbreak in previous years has prepared me better - but it sure will feel like the team massively failed if they don't win it all this year.
Blow it all up and move to San Diego. There are too many faithless in Northern California.

Donate Levi's to San Jose State.

Dinate the 5 Super Bowls to Seattle.

Go SAN DIEGO JAGUARS!!!

Absolutely. I was pretty young when we last won one so it was hard to even comprehend what it meant.

I'm not exactly sure how winning one feel but I I think it'll take all the pressure off and make football a little more fun again. I've been kind of obsessed with wanting another one so bad.
People are really spoiled
Lose first playoff game - A complete loss and some heads need to roll
Lose in Championship Game - Very disappointing, but we have a chance next year to get stronger and fix the oline.
Lose in the Superbowl - Disappointing, but realize we are almost there and maybe we will have better luck next year.

All sucks, but some more than others.

Its best to just enjoy the moment and every game. If you are not enjoying sports, then there is not much reason to watch it.

What sort of heads? Players? Coaches? If we go out early, I would guess that injuries will be largely to blame. So who are you going to sack?

Wilkes. This is a complete failure if you don't win the Lombardi with this roster. Kyle coming out empty backfield against that team was near criminal. You play to win the game not an MVP…….
This is the most complete team talent wise team with All Pros on all sides of the ball N if they can't pull it off they ain't gonna win a SB with key guys like Kittle, Warner, Samuel, CMC, Bosa or Aiyuk. Age will catch up N contracts will catch up to Shanahan's team, they will blow it up once again without anything to show for it.

This. Sports is supposed to be fun. I enjoy the 49ers and am disappointed when I lose, but some of the takes lack a grip on reality and what's important. Maybe some need to listen to some Giannis speeches.
I am enjoying this run. A Superbowl is always what we want but losing a SB is a lot better than being hopeless.
to me it'll feel like a complete loss in the sense that the greatest 49ers roster of all time couldnt win it all

Two words…. Kyle Shanahan.

awesome offensive coordinator.
average head coach.

it'll be tough to bring one back to SF, and we as fans will pay an emotional toll for it. but hey, at least he has 6 more years to keep tearing our hearts out

Yeah it's a loss without a Super Bowl win for sure. #1 talent in the league. Something tells me we get bounced in the playoffs too. A Shanahan special tradition.
