NFC goes thru SF. Hopefully somebody takes out Baltimore. They just dismantled two 11 win teams. They look unstoppable.

It could be the type of scheme both Kyle and McDaniel runs that's a bad matchup for that team. At least I hope so. Kyle can figure those out, generally speaking. McVay did a great job and lost only in overtime. Hope the rematch is like us against the Eagles, and we break them like the Eagles.
Ravens and Niners both have a tough road to navigate before a rematch. Worry about that if it actually comes to fruition.

Not so much worrying about the future, but rather thinking about the past shellacking of the 49ers, and adjustments to be made by Kyle.
This has probably already been asked but do you think we just rest our starters vs the rams? That'd be a whole month of rest for our team but I am a believer of keeping your team in football shape and you can't always exercise that with just practice.

they wont be many games where we throw 4 interceptions and they had a lot of short fields we were able to move the ball very well. They are a great/elite team but we definitely had some bad luck and made mistakes we don't usually make
I love that we got home field. I don't love that the Lions getting f**ked by the refs led to it though.

It all evens out. How may times have the 49ers been 'ed by the refs leading to the playoffs, and in the playoffs, and the Big Game.

Just my take on it, but I buy into the idea that Kyle wanted to showcase Purdy for the MVP and hence had a heavy passing game plan which *spectacularly* backfired on both of them.

It's all good, both Brock and Kyle got humbled and that will go a long way to having a better game plan should the 49ers and the Ravens face off in the Big Game.
I believe the last 2 years we failed in the playoffs because we had no rest at the end of the season and it was like we started the playoffs towards the last half of the regular season.

Hopefully finally having rest before the playoffs start and not having to travel will keep this team fresh and hungry.

Didnt they get a tripping penalty that was called on Dallas?

Preseason game at Levi's
Bye
Divisional game at Levi's
NFC Championship at Levi's
Bye
Super Bowl at Vegas

There really is no jet lag or health excuse with a playoff path like this. Not to get ahead of myself, but Vegas is a bus ride away and will likely be closer to a home game for us no matter what AFC team we play—the closest AFC playoff team is the Chiefs and that's still a plane ride away.

Other than the Super Bowl being at Levi's or So-Fi against a team not named the Chargers, that's probably as ideal of a schedule we can ask for, other than the teams we will play (who will obviously all be very good).

Yeah and Dallas also had a 92 yard touchdown where there was a clear hold. The difference between the 2 point conversion and other plays is there are missed calls on every play. This isnt a missed call where the refs didnt see a PI or a hold or something of that nature. This was entirely different.
Lot's of starter will be rested. The guys with minor injuries will get a chance to heal. That's great. I just hope the team doesn't go stale.

One issue that's been a problem recently is tackling and they don't tackle in practice. For many of the starters there will be 3 weeks between games. This week, the bye and then the week prior to the first playoff game. Those layoffs can be beneficial but they can hurt you as well.

What team hasn't gotten fked by the refs at some point?

That Lions team is pissed, that might carry them through the first playoff game. The Lions are likely going up against a significantly better team in the Rams than whoever Dallas will be playing. It's incredible to me that the effing Packers are in if they win -- on top of that they have the tiebreaker vs the Rams if they have the same record. It's not a given that the Packers beat Chicago this week.

As for the probable 1st round matchups, I think it's going to be Philly vs Tampa, Rams vs Lions, and GB vs Dallas. Philly is a disaster right now, it's not inconceivable that Tampa wins that game. I think the Lions win along with Dallas. If Tampa wins, that's a cakewalk for the Niners while Detroit and Dallas kill each other in the 2nd round. Even if it's Philly, there is something fundamentally wrong with their defense + Jalen Hurts + their play calling. The primary reason why the Niners are still the Super Bowl favorites is because the everyone in the NFC outside of the Niners has issues.

But the AFC is different story. I see three serious Super Bowl contenders out of the AFC, Baltimore, Buffalo and Cleveland. The Browns have the #5 locked up, they can treat this week like a bye. They then get to play whichever terrible team is coming out the AFC South, probably the Jags. I don't see Miami beating Buffalo this week, so that makes them a the #6 and going up against KC in the first round -- incredibly Buffalo may not even make the playoffs if they lose to Miami. They don't have tiebreakers vs Houston, Indy or Pittsburgh. Baltimore is going to rest their players most likely. Buffalo ends up either out of the playoffs or the #2 seed, crazy.

Assuming it's Baltimore, Buffalo, KC, Jags, Cleveland, Miami and Indy/ Houston, then I see Buffalo, KC, Cleveland coming out of the wild card. That puts Cleveland up against Baltimore in the divisional, an absolutely brutal game for Baltimore. Baltimore has had issues in the postseason with LaMar and Cleveland is just about the worst team to face in the first round of the playoffs.

Like I said above, there is a massive difference between a missed penalty/call and what happened to the Lions. Their coach is on record saying that he talked to the officials BEFORE THE GAME about what they were going to do. There is video evidence of #68 checking in with the referee and no video evidence of #70 checking in with the referee. That is a botch job as big as I have ever seen. This is far different than missing a hold.

But to your point, yeah every team has gotten f**ked over by the refs. I just think this situation is so far and beyond worse than a simple missed call.
how will we know which day we'll play in the divisional round? there's no science to it is there? got my tix already!!!
